I don't think it's too late if the cocktail hour/reception is pretty much right after - if it can start by 8:00. This would of course make travel time & pictures a big consideration.

I agree with Christine - If the wedding ran past 1am it might be rough for some people.

i know you prob have your heart set on this church ,, but did you try another church i your area? or having the ceremony at the recpetion hall?

The Church cannot change their schedules for all of us brides. I don't think it is too late. You will just have an evening affair.

I hope its not too late since that is when we are having our ceremony :D

In fact, I searched all over NYC for a church that could accomadate a late cermony because I definitely wanted an evening wedding and I didn't want a huge gap between the ceremony and reception.

My ceremony should be over no later than 7 and my reception starts at 7:30.

Our church said 3:00pm is the latest they can hold a ceremony on Saturday in a Catholic Church? I would of liked it better if it was later, but we really don't have a choice.

Melissa....Same thing here. My RC church said no later than 2:30 on a saturday.

I hope you are joking. So what if you are a parishoner for years, the whole parish should accommodate your wedding? I don't think so. Maybe confession is not important to you but it is to many people. Get over yourself and make some other arrangement

My friend got married at 7:30 at a hotel and we went right into the cocktail hour at 8. The party ended at 1:15, and almost everyone stayed, but thats because most people stayed at the hotel...
