i have the opposite problem, we invited waaaaay too many people, thinking some of the invites were out of courtesy and that the people would nevr come, well, we've gotten back 23 response cards, and not ONE NO. I am starting to panic.....!!!

dont worry, you will get plenty of yesses. i am feeling the same way as jpsgirl... we invited way too many people to our wedding, and EVERYONE is coming so far! some people know they have plans that day right away so they rsvp quickly, others will wait till the very last day (and beyond)..... but you will have people at your wedding, dont worry!

I am also getting married on Oct. 20th 2002. Where are you having your reception? I guess I could have checked out your BIO to find this out, but that would be too easy!

As for the NO response: Don't worry, I don't think it is an omen. Like others have said, this may be a blessing. At least they let you know right away that they weren't coming. I have the opposite problem, too many are invited and everyone is saying yes! We only wanted to have 150 ppl but we had to invite (out of curtisy) 297. WOW! what a difference! I'm going out of my mind also with the responses (see my post under 'is anyone else going crazy with gusets) or something like that. Maybe it will make you feel better.

Pepper - I was just saying to FH how funny the responses are. With my side of the family, all the no's write a little note saying why they can't be there, and on FH's side, they just check off the box and mail it off! No congrats, good luck, etc. I thought it was a little rude, but I can be overly sensitive LOL To be honest it isn't hard to write in a quick note to the B&G.....

My first response was no also! No note just no-from an old Uncle of my Mom. It was a crappy feeling at first but now I've gotten lots of both & I'm exepting the fact that it happens-a few of my long time friends that I don't hang out with all the time already have trips planned(they wrote me little notes that were sweet) But that's bad because I really wanted them there! You didn't want those people & I didn't want old Uncle-so it really doesn't matter. I have had a few Bridezilla moments lately-it's part of what we are going through. Hang in there & ALL the Yes cards with cute notes will come flying in!

Don't be worried Pepper. Not everyone knows that they are supposed to write a little blurb to blunt the 'NO' response and just to be nice. I am sure they were not being mean to you, they just didn't know. YOu don't know why they can't come. Maybe they have an arragement they can't get out of and they sent the response back so quickly to you so that you would have plenty of time to pick someone off of teh 'B' list. That's the way i woudl look like it. And as for bad omen.... didn't you know that a rainbow only comes after a shower? Better to get the bad stuff first and then have nothing but good stuff! You'll probably still get a couple of no's... its unrealistic to think you wouldn't. remember, sometimes as much as someone wants to be there they can't. Did you have your shower yet? How do you know the wife is not invited to it and is planning on making it up to you? Good luck and please stop fretting. From your posts you seem like a very sweet and nice person, i can't imagine why anyone wouldn't WANT to come.

Don't worry! My 1st response was a 'no' as well. Just to let you know, we invited 180 people and only 132 are coming to the wedding! Some of the 'no's' include CLOSE relatives...FH's grandparents and my godfather. And neither wrote a nice note in the response, and I bet neither will give us a gift. It stinks, I know. I'm sorry, I know I'm not helping! But try to cheer up, you will have lots of guests at your wedding because I'm sure there are LOTS of people who love and care about you both...
