Is anyone planning on having a groom's cake? If so, are you going to have it at the rehearsal dinner or at the reception? Also, I'd love to hear what creative ideas you have for a cake?
I had a groom's cake at the RD. I got it from Audrey's Bakery in Sayville and highly recommend them. DH is a crazy Philadelphia Eagles fan so I got him a helmet. Here is a pic:

Re: Groom's Cake
I just picked my cake. I am going to have it displayed at the reception. We will already have a wedding cake and the viennese hour so it will be brought back to the hotel and enjoyed at the brunch the morning after the wedding. The design of it was too nice to just use it at the RD.
I am getting my FH a Xbox cake and I will be having it at the Reception.

Re: Groom's Cake
i will be having a grooms cake at RD, as it is something completely FH's own, and I want him to have a little spotlight to call his own and have a fuss made over him. Hes a horror movie fanatic, collects posters, memorbillia, and loves zombies.. MOH found this online and well do something of this nature.. he has no idea, itll be a surprise!
I think it's a southern tradition that made its way over here. It's usually a surprise for the groom and it's a cake in the shape of something that he likes. My FI is from Ireland so I picked the 'pint of guinness cake' other people have them done up for sports teams or cars, poker themes. If you can imagine it a pastry chef somewhere will make it.

I had it at the reception. I wanted DH to be in the spotlight and it was a complete surprise to him. He loves his car. I went to http://www.dortonibakery.com/index.htm

Re: Groom's Cake
$70 at Audreys bakery in Sayville! A++ I never even set foot in the bakery. I called them and told them what I wanted. Paid by credit card and my MIL picked it up. A+++
