Does it aggravate anyone else when people say why'd you bother getting engaged now if your not getting married for 2 years!! I hear this every other day and I'm getting sick of it! Helloooo it's 1.5 and it's gona go by so quick...sorry girls miny vent!

i know what you mean. When I got engaged i though i was going to do the wedding in 08, but then after i realized how much palnning and time you need to get everything togther we moved it to 09. I hate when people tell me why dont u do it next year. its none of their buisness anyway

Same here... But I try not to sweat it because we're paying for the wedding ourselves and I wanted to enjoy the planning and spread it out so we wouldn't be stressed.

Honestly...no one has really said anything to me yet. When we got engaged (just 3 weeks ago) I thought we'd get married a lot sooner than 2 years. But my mom told me that if we need her help financially, we'd have to wait until fall of 2009 so she can save up. I was upset at first, but now I am realizing how much work and time and energy you need to put in to plan the perfect day!
Just tell people that you want your day to be absolutely perfect and you need time. Plus, its totally no one's business to say that to you. They don't know your situation! Ridiculous!

No one has yet said that to me... I think I would punch someone. Next time someone says to that to you say that you want to take the time and enjoy being engaged and you want your wedding to be well planned out not thrown together!! People are NUTS!!!!

I actually got this for the first time last night. I don't even know what an appropriate response is. I usually say that we want to wait until I am done with school, which is then met with 'again, so why did you get engaged now?'

yea exactly. some of my friends think that you should only be engaged for a year. unfortunately im not having my wedding paid for by my family so we need longer to work for our money. jeezzzzzzz

Sorry to crash your board but you know what the funny thing is. When your day is finally here those same people are going to tell you how fast it went. I was engaged for 2 years and 3 months and I heard it many times the day of my wedding. I wanted to b!tch slap them LOL

Girl PLEASE...I hear it all the time from everyone especially at my mtohers church...they meet somebody on thursday and their married by friday evening. I'm taking my time...but u know what they are the main people who want to be the first on the invite list...

Everyone that I tell I'm getting married in 2009 sees it the way we see it... more time to plan, more money to save! I guess I'm just lucky though. I only associate with nice people.

I haven't really heard it. But I guess its because I had planned on getting married in 08, but there's just too many things to plan and not enough money to do it lolz..so I usually let them know it was pushed back a year due to planning and finances..
