I have seen the priest light it and I will have my priest do the same because I want him to say something in memory of our loved ones that couldn't be with us that day but are watching over us. That is the reason why I want the candle lit.

I think we are having both moms walk in together and they will light the Unity Candles (I think this is what you are talking about)

We are having my Mom/Stepdad and FH parents light them at the start. They will walk down the aisle, light them, sit and then bridal party will walk in. I am doing this bc I wanted a way to include my Step-dad in the ceremony.

Edited to say: they will light the taper candles from our unity candle set.

I havent really thought about it. I would like to have my Mom do it but then I would have to have FMIL do it but she would probably fall over!

We're having both moms light the taper candles, then FH and I will use them to light the unity candle.

Our Moms walked in together(my parents are divorced & My FIL is deceased)they lit the smallest candles on each side then the ushers seated them.
Our memory candle was lit before the ceremony & it's purpose was described in our program.

my mom and FH sister will lite the two tapers. Later in the cermony FH and I will lite the main candle.
We are also having a memory candle which the Minister will lite at the begining of the cermony, it stands witness to the marrage.
