maybe he only put that b/c he thought u paid for 2 people and he did not want u to lose money?? thats the only reason i could think of why he would want to bring a stranger to a wedding?or maybe he just did not want to show up alone?

Also keep in mind that they were toghether for quite a bit of time and they have only been broken up for a few weeks, there may be a chance that they get backtogether, and then that would be akward if he only rsvp'd for 1

Maybe he's thinking they might get back together?
Are you close to him? Then you can talk to him and explain that you are only inviting people with their SOs. Since he is no longer dating his gf then you'd prefer he didn't bring just a friend or random date. It's your wedding. Take a stand. He probably just doesn't realize.

I'm sure he didn't even think about it....He probably just thought I was invited with someone so it doesn't matter if it is GF or new person.

IDK I wouldnt care. I guess he probably figured you already paid for 2 so why make you lose out.

Normally adults are invited with guests to a wedding so he may just assume that this is true for yours as well. If it's that much of a problem, then I would call or email him and let him know that you have a serious relationships only rule becuase of the size of your guest list.

either he thinks they are getting back together or he doesnt want to go alone ... either way i would let him bring the date, if you already allocated a space for the person, JMO

Re: People are nervey
i agree it's annoying, but if you allocated the space in your head, you might as well allow it. at the end of the day, what's one more person?
someone responded with 'and guest' to me also. it's so stupid...what am i going to do, put mr. barney rubble and guest on the place cards? it's going to look so ghetto. they could at least tell you who they're bringing.

To be honest.. I think it's perfectly acceptable for him to bring a guest. He probably assumed you would have invited him with a guest in the first place and just put her name b/c that was who he was currently dating.. And I'm with the other girls either he has hope for getting back together and/or he doesn't want to be alone

HE didn't write it...his MOM wrote it...she also asked if her other son could bring a guest...IMO I just wouldn't have the b al ls to ask to bring one on nor take it upon myself to write AND GUEST
well, this is annoying. if you didn't invite someone with guest, they should not ask to bring one.
