Re: Need your money opinion..having a rough $ day...
can you set up a payment plan with your vendors so only a certain amount is due each month? that way you can pay your card off each month as you usually do.
Credit card interest is horrible. Can a family member give you an interest-free loan and you instead pay them back over the next 12 months?

I know everyone says not to use your ccs, but if you don't have the money, you don't have the money. I DEF think putting it on your credit cards is a much better option than taking out a loan or borrowing from your 401k!

You actually can (borrow from the 401K), but I think there are penalties for doing this. I think you have to pay yourself back with interest or something like that.

Oh ok, thanks. I hope I won't have to do this, but at least I know it's there if I ABSOLUTELY need to. (Re: the credit card.)

Can you take out a loan from your 401k? DON'T WITHDRAW but take out a loan which you pay back over x amount of time. You can always prepay it with no penalty.
I've done that a couple of times in the past and it's worked best for me. Just be sure to make the payments and not default...if so it's taxable.

I would NOT take money from your 401K....think about it the market dropped so much that if your taking out lets say $2k it was really worth $4k. See if you can find a 0 interest CC or even some venders that wont make you pay all of the $$ right away. taking from your 401k even for a loan should be a last resort.

It's not so horrible the only thing that might effect you is if you apply for a mortgage or a loan during the period after the wedding when these cards are being paid off. Even if u pay the bill on time every month the balance if still considered debt just not faulty debt that can make a difference on rates u get for car loans or mortgages

ITA... if you borrow from your 401k you will have a penalty so its not worth it at least after the wedding you will be able to pay it off right away with the gift... use your line of credit instead of your cc
