I would think more about who your Dad would WANT to sit with than who he SHOULD sit with. All that matters is that he has a good time and enjoys himself. Have you asked him who he would like to sit with?

Can you ask dad to invite enough people for one table? That way you have his table already worked out and you don't have to think about it - That is what we are trying to do with FFIL and FSMIL - but they have been insistant that they don't want to invite anyone to our wedding - ugh -
What you might have to do is - what someone suggested to me - sit them with the other random people that are (rejects is not the word) but say with the people who don't know anyone else - just an idea

I hear you - I was up nights trying to figure out how to sit FMIL (single but with her father) and FFIL and FSMIL - FFIL and FSMIL would call me or FH about once a week and say - now you will sit us on the far side of the room and NOT FACING FMIL or we will not come and if we come there will be problems.
Apparently FMIL after 20 years of being married to FSMIL is still in love with FFIL (mind you and gives them dirty looks and stares all the time - but heard FFIL bangs into her - FMIL went around our e-party saying - that women stole my husband- FFIL cheated on FFIL with FSMIL so that is why she is bitter)
Problem since they don't want to invite anyone it makes it hard - I think we will have to sit them with random people b/c even if we put his son (our BM and FH's brother) and his wife at the table that is only 4 people. We also don't want to make our BM sit in a corner all night that isn't far to them
