I live close by in NEsconset. I grew up in Nesconset too. I always considered Hauppauge to be a very nice area.

The commute to NYC will $uck since you are forced to use the LIRR and in general, that $ucks. BUT Hauppauge is a nice place to live and work.

I grew up in Smithtown, and my family grew up in Hauppauge, so I can help you. The commute into the city is pretty bad from Smithtown, so I would take the train from CI, which isn't that great either, but at least it's not the old diesel trains. Where in Hauppauge is it exactly? There are some parts that border areas that I personally consider 'not so great', but MOST of it is beautiful. The schools are very good, and not over crowded like so many of LI schools. There's TONS to do as well, like Blydenberg Park which is right in Hauppauge. There is also SOOOOOOO much shopping on LI. When you live in Suffolk County, you'll find that you live in the whole county, you will probably travel all over it and not even notice, so there is never an end to what you can do. Restaurants and bars are good everywhere, especially in Smithtown and Port Jeff. Anything else you would like to know, just ask! Good Luck!

We live in Ronkonkoma, Lake Hills area, it seems we border Nesconset and Happauge. We just moved last month and it is a nice area. You would probably be better off taking the train from Central Islip.

Hi! I was following your post because I lived/grew up in Hauppauge, but I've been in Buffalo for almost 10 years.
It sounds like you are right in my old neighborhood. What road??

ss2002. that is the neighborhood that my family grew up in and still lives in. Great area! Lots of kids and young families! You will be very happy there, I know it! You made me excited to find a house now(although we have some time until we look). Yay for you!

I live and work in Hauppauge and agree with the above posts. Hauppauge schools are very good and the taxes are a bit cheaper than some of the neighboring areas like Smithtown.

I worked in Hauppauge for 10 years. Very nice area. As for bars/restaurants... there's TGI Fridays, Wall Street, Pace's (great steak place), Dave &Busters just minutes away.

I work right near where your house is. A lot of my co-workers live in the Smithtown, Nesconset, Hauppauge area...it's very nice over here. Good luck!!!
