Re: When did you start to feel overwhelmed? Or didn't you???

For me, the craziest part was dealing with getting all my bridesmaids their dresses. A few of them don't live in the area, so it was stressful trying to get them all in the same place at the same time! My newest stress is dealing with my FMIL about the RD. But that, too, shall pass! I try not to stress about it, because whenever I think about how happy I am to be marrying the man I love, then all of the stress proves to be worth it (and then some!) Picturing us on our honeymoon helps me to relax too! You should be very happy that you haven't been too stressed out... it's no fun! You are lucky!

You're not getting married until Sept. of next year - I don't think you should be feeling crazy at all...I think that happens during the last 3 months, but if you get all the little details out of the way now, you might avoid the craziness altogether! I know I hope to!

I have less than four months to go and the only real stress I've encountered thus far was blocking hotel rooms in the Hamptons. It was MADNESS and I literally dragged my fi all the way out there at 9am on a Saturday in January to make sure our guests would have somewhere to stay! But I think thats unique to where I'm getting married. As for everything else, I hope to never be that overwhelemed. I've done things little by little and have tried to be calm as much as possible. Also, my handy-dandy binder has kept everything in one place and very very organized.

I have 2 months left and I have started to feel VERY overwhelmed. I think you have some time until you really start feeling the jittery nervous feelings

The last 6 weeks have been totally insane, and I have said this before and I'll say it again....get your little stuff done as EARLY as possible. This means favors, programs, any little details you know you really want...those are the things that eat up your time and energy at the end, when you wish you had that time to shop for your honeymoon, relax, and take care of yourself!

Re: When did you start to feel overwhelmed? Or didn't you???

I started to get alittle overwelmed last month but that's only because both parents were taking there sweet as* time giving me the guest list and they are still adding to it ! Then I had to put all the names in the computer for my step-sis so she can do the addressing (all while FH watches tv). Also I'm trying to do the registries because i know my shower is going to be in July.

I know I am going to be a lunatic in about 2 more months because we still haven't done our engagement photo and then that's when we get down to the nitty gritty like fittings, the flowers, MONEY and all that good stuff!

I am almost three months away, and am starting to freak out a little I am getting stuck on small details though, like what jewlery I will wear or if I will wear a corset under my dress. As you get closer, it gets harder b/c there is stuff that you cannot do too early, like dress fittings so they are just hanging out there, making you crazy.

Our engagement was about the same length of time and we paced ourselves like you are doing. I didn't start to feel overwhelmed until the last 2 months. A LOT of things have to get done then that can't be done earlier and things that need to be done are not entirely in your control anymore (RSVP, alteration appointments, etc).

Re: When did you start to feel overwhelmed? Or didn't you???

I feel overwhelmed every day. I work full-time as a teacher, I am a full-time student puruing a masters degree, I work another job part time, I am planning a wedding, I am throwing a graduation party for my brother in another week, I have my best friend bachelorette party next week, I have to find time to go for fittings for her wedding, I am broke and constantly worrying about money and how i have none.
I am overwhelmed everytime I see my mom, because she always wants to do wedding stuff.
I am sorry I am complaining so much but I could go on for another hour. Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: When did you start to feel overwhelmed? Or didn't you???

I have 10 days to go, and I don't feel overwhelmed too frequently.

I did yesterday, though, because we are having outfits for the groom and groomsmen hand made for us for our medieval theme, and they weren't done yet, and no word from the seamstress at ALL. I looked at my countdown clock, saw I only had 11 days left and freaked. But we finally got in touch with them last night, and we're picking them up on Saturday. What a RELIEF! I can't tell you how worried I was about that.

Other than that, I usually feel fine. Every so often, when I think of all the little details, the calls still to be made, the payments to be made, dropping off the stuff to the caterer, and things like that, it feels like I will NEVER get it done in time.

But if you realize that you can only do one thing at a time, and make sure you stay on top of where you are in your planning, what needs to be done and when, and remember you can only tackle a little at time, it takes the pressure WAY off.

Also try to do things in order of importance. For example, it's much more important for all the placecards to be done, the seating chart, and other details of the day, than it is to have Welcome Baskets at the hotel. While the baskets would be nice, if you have to skip them because there's no time, it's OKAY! But you can't skip the placecards. So do things in order of priority. And don't be afraid to let some ideas go if you find it's just too much for you.

You'll be FINE!

Re: When did you start to feel overwhelmed? Or didn't you???

For some odd reason I was not overwhelmed or stressed at all throughout my planning. People kept asking 'are you nervouse?' I started to feel like I was a weirdo or something. From the day I got engaged, I promised I would enjoy every step of the way....and I did. I wish you all the same.
