I am 5' even and I had no problems. My dress has to be hemmed from the top of the skirt b/c of the detail on the bottom. So don't worry. As weird as it seems the pins and clips do help. The only negative is you can't see the back. But what they can do is put the clips on the sides. Don't worry.

Priscilla of Boston makes petite gowns and they have beautiful dresses. Also, I found that when I went to the trunk shows, they tended to have smaller sizes. Good Luck from a fellow petite bride.
BTW, my gown was from Richard Glasgow and I bought it at the Wedding Salon in Manhasset, which I highly recommend.
