I think you need to treat both sets of parents equally. This is the beginning of your future together and you don't want problems over invitation wording.

Invitation Wording
we ran into a similar issue as my mom & fw's parents equally contributed but my dad didnt at all. we ended up including him on the invitation because it would be so embarassing for him not to be and also because he's still my dad, so we felt it was fair & right!

OH DUH- as the BRIDE it may not look as bad for only your parents to be on it because that is the old school way too!

I'm with Lauren. It depends how sensitive his parents are, but I don't see anything wrong with 'Mr. & Mrs. Bride's Parents request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter BRIDE to GROOM (son of Mr. & Mrs.....)' As long as the wording isn't being chosen for spite, its all good. I've seen plenty of invites with just the bride's parents. But if you think his parents will be personally offended, you may want to rethink.

Invitation Wording
This was our exact situation, my parents paid for about half, his mother didn't contribute. I wanted to include his mom out of respect, but I wanted to make sure it looked like my parents were hosting. This is what I did:
Mr. and Mrs. D-- Invite you to celebrate the marriage of their daughter L-- to J-- Son of Mrs. G--

This! Include them on the invite as 'son of' and their names. This way they're on there but it doesn't look like they're hosting!

I agree with the above. FH's parents get mentioned, but it's your parents who are 'inviting'. We have a casual wedding so we did a less formal invite, and we are paying for it ourselves so the wording just said 'We invite you to join us...'

This is what I'll probably end up doing, though his parents are divorced so I'm going to put Mr.... and Ms....
FH's mom told me over dinner 'when you do the invitations, don't put us as Mr. and Mrs.' Presumptuous much?

I really like this!! I'm in the same boat..my mom is contributing but my FH's parents aren't

Do the parents have to be on the invite? My FH and I are paying for the whole thing. Both of my parents are deceased and he has 3 sets of parents (long story).
... Would it be wrong to just have something like please come clelebrate the marriage of Justin and Lisa ?

We just added our names. We did this mostly because of space since we added both the church and reception to the invitation. We are also paying for the whole thing. I asked my mom her thoughts and she said it was fine.
