Thats crazy. My wedding is 9/21 and the invites are going out this week. Thats more than 8 weeks in advance. I cant imagine that anyone would expect them weeks ago! If anyone was planning a vacation or something, all they had to do was ask when the wedding was!

Thank you! Ugh...I'm just so tired of hearing people tell us the way we should/should not be doing things. Everybody's got an opinon and I just could not care less at this point.
We should have just gotten married on the beach in Mexico! Just us, brothers and sisters and parents. Wayyyy less drama.

we had plenty of people ask before the invites went out (even those who got STDs....) because of weird rules @ work regarding vacation (you must ask wayyyy in advance)

At my job we have to pick our vacation weeks in December for the upcoming year & it is based on seniority whether you actually get your requested weeks. It sucks but we have no choice.

If someone needed to put in for vacation time all they needed to do was ask you when it was. People can be very annoying. It will all work out. Every body has an opinion. I just smile and say 'thank you, I'll think about that. ' then I do what I want anyway. Lol.

This is why I have asked for no help or sought advise from anyone but FH and my vendors. Once people think you are open to their input, they will give it to you constantly!

some people do have to know well in advance if they need to take off of work, but it doesn't even make sense for someone to just take off in october with out asking you when the wedding was first. if they are texting you now they obviously could have done that a couple of weeks ago if they needed to know when the date was!
try not to let people's cattyness get to you!

I agree! I did the 8 week mark as well, and it was fine! I've come to realize that when planning a wedding, many people have no idea about the stress of planning one. Or if they've planned one, it was a while ago and many things/traditions have changed.

Re: No more unsolicited advice - can I get an AMEN??
I'm getting married the week before you and I JUST sent the invites out this week. You're fine, don't worry. Sometimes even coming on LIW will get me stressed when I see other girls have so much more done.
I totally feel ya though. Most people have avoided offering their opinions on things to me bc they KNOW I will flip out. I almost went ballistic the other day when FMIL questioned my timeline for the day and whether we would have enough time to take pictures with the family. Excuse me, but I have put SO MUCH thought into my timeline for the day and it's the way it is for a reason. You don't think I factored in taking pictures with the family? FBIL got married a few years ago so the whole family thinks they know how weddings should be done.

Thanks for all the support! Maybe I'm a little sensitive but after all the thought and time that I have put into every aspect of the wedding, it kind of hurts to have people tell me (in a totally passive aggressive way) that I'm doing it wrong. I know that it's just somebody's misguided opinion but it still sucks.
Whatever, at the end of the day, I know it will be amazing and I can't let these little comments get to me. But they do :(

Why would they just guess that your wedding is in October instead of asking you the date? That makes no sense. You sent your invites with plenty of time. Don't listen to other people's nonsense.

hahaha omggg same!! FBIL got married at the same church we are and our venues are literally around the corner from one another. We're stopping at Old Westbury Gardens (which is along the way!) for pix and we have it from 4:30-6:00. CH is at 7:00. I figure we will have well over 30 minutes to take pix with the family at the Woodlands. FBIL went straight to the venue and had 2 hours to kill. I started to get nasty when FMIL questioned me. I'm like, well make a list of pictures you may want us to take and I'll look it over. We have PLENTY of time as long as everyone is at the venue and not wandering around or sitting at the bar. If everyone cooperates then we are good. I swear this is the first time I've felt Bridezilla-ish.

Right now were dealing with rehearsal dinner invites. I'm getting 'I don't think they did invites for that. You should ask them.' As if they are the be all end all of wedding etiquette. Oy. Were sending them because that's what I am doing. Doesn't matter if nobody ever did it before. I am. LOL.

AMEN! Why don't people realize things are not always going to be made to their preference???
With my family I get frustrated because the engagement is a 3 year one. I have been brainstorming and coming up with ideas and timelines for 2 years. Now they want to tell me what they think. Thanks but no thanks!

My dad told me from the beginning to get married in Vegas - but even with all the stress & hassle, I loved my wedding day & miss it already!
