*~*~*QOTD 12/10 *~*~* - Long Island Weddings

good question!!

my FH loves tiesto, armin van buuren, and all those other techno people so we went with a DJ who is good at mixing for that music... It will mostly be a mix of that and top 40

We will be playing some of the oldies motown type music a little bit for my mom and the folks from that crowd, and my FH's family is very irish so we will be playing the Black Velvet Band for them because at the last wedding they all (there's 9 sets of aunts/uncles and ALOT of cousins- so basically half of the wedding guests LOL) came onto the dancefloor and sang it together, it was really cute

at our engagement party house of pain jump around came on and everyone went nuts so we are playing that and MChammer can't touch this lol also got played at the engagement party and my fh and groomsmen's literally did a the dance from the video. It was hysterical! So now it has to be played at the wedding and they will have to do the dance again lol.

We want a good mix of modern and music from past eras. But I secretly want the DJ to play either or both of these One Direction songs: Kiss You and What Makes You Beautiful. I feel like I should be embarrassed admitting that, haha. And while we're on this cheesy pop music note, I also like the Jonas Brothers' 'When You Look Me In The Eyes' (more of a slow song.)

We are definitely playing Jump Around too because a few of FH's friends LOVE that song.

We are also definitely ending the night with 'Take Me Home Tonight.'

Yes! House of Pain, Jump Around for sure. But not for FH, for me! LOL! Me and my BFF liked the silliest, most random music growing up, we know all the words!

It's going to be a weird random mix of music at our wedding. lol. FH is Colombian, so there will be salsa, merengue, and such. But I'm also a huge 90's music nerd, pop, hip hop, AAALLL of it! LOL! And we both love house music and in our younger days went clubbing every weekend. It'll be fun.

Cute question!!

Definitely 'Born To Be Alive' that is my shameless jam that I'm thinking I want our bridal party to come out to. Probably some Hanson and Eminem to pay homage to my youth obsession and FH's too.

We will have a pretty eclectic mix too--FH and I both love country music, and there will definitely be some Motown for the older guests, some 80's and 90's...FH's guilty pleasure was Boys II Men...and I'm sure Pour Some Sugar On Me will get requested. My dearest GF's love old freestyle, so I will have some TKA or Judy Torres for them. And I love Depeche Mode, Erasure, etc. so I will throw a few new wave songs in too. And my mom's family is Jamaican, so there will be reggae! :)

Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order

Definitely my guiltiest pleasure.

Andy's guilty pleasure is Yakety Sax as our last song.
Benny Hill always had that at the end of his show so Andy feels it should be the end of the reception. I'm ok with it because I liked Benny Hill as Closing Time would send my friend the bouncer running for the hills as he hears that at his job. lol

I am really looking forward to our 'guilty pleasure' song. Actually we're pretty shameless with it really lol. It's 'Under the Sea' from the Little Mermaid LOL - My fiancée chose it as a Karaoke song one night and I had no idea how many of our friends LOVE that song! That may be how we close out the night. LOL

90'd music!!! Though I myself spent my teen years in the late 90's-00's, I grew up idolizing my sister who was about ten years older than me. Therefore, my favorite music is everything 90's from Rob Base and Marky Mark to Spice Girls and Jock Jams, I loooove the cheesey stuff. I also need some of the 90s dance mixes that were in every one of my dance recitals growing up (i.e. Total eclipse of the heart, dance version).

Jump In the Line by Harry Bellafonte.. It is the ONLY song that makes FH shake his booty..LOL

Both FH and I were big techno, Sound Factory-types back in the day, so we're definitely gonna have some house mixed into the current pop/dance music.
FH has to have some of his guilty pleasure, though - 90's R&B music, like Boys 2 Men and Jodeci. Back in the 90's I was more into rock....so I'll have a little GnR, Aerosmith, etc.

But, the guiltiest of of pleasures, by far, is our use of 80's movie soundtrack music. The last song of the night is Dirty Dancing's 'I've had the time of my life,' and I'll walking down the isle to 'Storybook Love' from Princess Bride :)
