XP from LIF: I need help

I'm embarrassed to even say this, but I've never been to a funeral before (only wakes) and I've never heard a eulogy.

My family has asked me to write & present the eulogy for my uncle's funeral on Saturday.

I don't know where to start. I'm a relatively good writer and once I get the creative juices started, they flow naturally, but nothing like this.

He passed away this weekend in a very tragic accident at the age of 47, leaving behind three boys (ages 9,11,12) and his amazing wife. He's my father's brother (only one in the USA) and raised me and my brother Anthony until the age of 10.

I would start with general themes...he loved hunting...loved the outdoors...and talk about maybe some memories you've shared with him doing these things.

talk about his virtues..what kind of a man he was. talk about how much he meant to you, and to your family.

celebrate him with your words. it's the best thing I can tell you.

My cousin did this for my grandfather and grandmother. He talked about their life with one another and raised a few funny stories in btw to get people to laugh a little thru the tears, and talked about them as loving indivuduals.

Sorry to hear about this tragedy, Chrissy.

If you speak from the heart, it will work out fine. There is no one way to do it, so use your own style.

chris, I have no doubt that you will be able to deliver a beautiful euology. thinking back at some that i have heard, the more memorable were those that celebrated the life of a person. similar to what jess said, talk about what your uncle appreciated in his life and the love that he shared with his family. talk to your aunt or other family members about memories that desclose things about him that others didn't know.

I would also close with a mention for everyone to support and watch over his children, now that he has passed.

let me know if i could be of any help. you will be fine.
