He's the house clergy for the Fox Hollow. I would like to meet with him before booking him for my wedding, just as I did with every other vendor. I emailed him and he said it's all done via phone. Some girls on here have said they met with them, and some say they have gotten the same response. I am not really comfortable booking an officiant whom I haven't met ... I mean, what if we just don't connect? It's the most important part of the day ... I want to make sure I am comfortable with this man. FH doesn't want to meet anyone so he'll be very happy when I tell him he does it all via email.
Anyone using him or have used him? Anyone hear the same thing? How would you feel about not meeting your officiant til the morning of your wedding???

Exactly.
I would definitely want to meet our officiant. The fact that he said, 'don't worry - it's all done over the phone' would turn me off.

There's no way I would let someone perform my ceremony that I had never even met before in person. I would just be uncomfortable with it, but that's me. Alot of people wouldn't mind.

Yeah, it kinda does. But other girls met with him, so that's what makes it strange! I guess I can find a way to tactfully say 'I'd really like to meet you before booking' - right? One girl on here said that when she told his wife (who answers the phone when you call, also a reverend) that she wanted to meet, the wife said, 'We don't do interviews.' That turns me off BIG TIME but I figure I've gotta give them a chance ... he is super affordable bc he is the house clergy ...

idk if its something new b/c we were considering using him and met him at his house. He was very nice and down to earth. We ended up waitign too long to book and he had booked another wedding so we went w/ someone else. I agree with you though. I would like to meet with someone beforehand.

Ok, maybe I can just say that I know lots of brides who met him and say that I was hoping to do the same? Can't hurt, right?

I had a question, since you are getting married on the same day as me I wonder if he would do my ceremony at night? Do they usually do more than one ceremony for one day???

did you tell him you wanted to meet in person? Maybe if you express your concerns he will do it. It wasn't any sort of issue for us.

I don't think you have to be tactful about saying that you really want to meet him...he certainly wasn't tactful in his response to you.
Say this: 'The ceremony is very important to me, and I would really like to meet the person who performs it before the day of the wedding. If you're not willing to meet with me, could you please recommend someone who will?'

I did - I said I would like to meet before I book, did he do appts on weeknights? And his response was:
Congratulations The date is available we do everything via e-mail or conference call The. Best time to call is in the evenings after 8 pm we will assist in anyway necessary
From his blackberry. I tried to be as nice as possible in my email ... because I heard his wife told someone 'we don't DO interviews,' and I was trying to not let that cloud my judgement, you know? I will write him back and ask agaiin about meeting, saying it's important to me to meet all vendors before booking, especially for the ceremony as it's the most important part of the day.
This might actually work out well since FH doesn't really want to meet - I can go by myself maybe.

I do feel that I need to be a BIT tactful - I don't believe in being rude, necessarily, just because someone else wasn't as nice as I'd like them to be. He wasn't really rude in his response. I'll use the first part of your suggestion though :) Thanks.

Do you think he would be able to do my ceremony at night at the fox hollow since he would be doing yours during the day? Also can you give me his e-mail address? Thanks a bunch! Let us know what he says about meeting you. I would want to meet him too before I booked him even though I've heard great things about him!
