what is usually included that doesn't jack up the price? like what would the cake be if you didn't add anything that cost extra money?

Re: XPOST 10: Question about cakes
I would imagine that it varies from hall to hall. My cake was 3 tiers and was yellow cake with white and milk chocolate mousse with a strawberry infusion. I did not have to pay extra for it.
our cake was 4 tiers and was alternating tirs f strawberry shortcake and canoli
it had small decorations on it..like dots
that was all included
we paid the florist to put flowers on it

Re: XPOST 10: Question about cakes
We had a 3 tier cake w/ butter cream frosting, chocolate cake, and raspberry mousse. The scroll work was included in the price and was the design we picked. The ribbon was extra I think something like $20 more. I know if we wanted to do fondant it would be a dollar more per person. I personally love how fondant looks but hate the taste. We went for taste. Certain heavy fillings I believe were more. The more detailed you get the more your going to have to spend usually. We loved our cake. It was so delicious.

Re: XPOST 10: Question about cakes
I also think it depends on the hall. Everything for my cake was included, but I didn't have a very intricate designed cake. I also provided the ribbon for it since I wanted it to match my colors. You should be able to discuss your design with the baker, which I def. recommend, and they can tell you if what you a picking involves a lot of work, which will then be more $$. HTH!!
It really all depends on the hall. A lot of things tend to be included that you wouldn't think would be. You have to see what your options are.

Re: XPOST 10: Question about cakes
He had 4 tiers & a different flavor for each layer. The only thing that cost us extra was the actual design - we wanted shells on/around the cake. Cost us $50 extra - it was so worth it!
Our cake was strawberries and pineapple and 3 tiers. No fondants. The reception hall agreed to put flowers on it for us without charging us extra and they also give us the cake topper.

Re: XPOST 10: Question about cakes
Each hall has its own standards. Mine was 4 tiers and buttercream for the design I wanted. They had alot of others that were included that had fondant but you should check with them.

Re: XPOST 10: Question about cakes
Ours was a four tier (that was dependent on how many guests) buttercream marble cake with half cannoli and have hazelnut mousse. I paid the florist to put the flowers. My cake had no upgrades and was completely included
our cake was part of our package except if we added fresh flowers from the florist and fondant. If we put fondant instead of ribbon on the cake they wanted $400! We decided the ribbon was fine. Fondant is expensive and it will increase the price of your cake.
