XPOST: Ceremony & Rehearsal Dinner

Hello Ladies,

Who is usually invited to the rehearsal dinner?

Also for Catholic brides... how many readers will you have at your ceremony? How many people to bring up the gifts?

Also, feel free to post your program here for ideas!

Thanks so much!

We are doing immediate family (no cousins, aunts etc), bridal party and OOT guests.

Not having a church wedding but we will have 2 readers. HTH!

Let me ask you girls... if you are doing 'immediate family' but leaving out Aunts and Cousins.... what if they are traveling in from out of NYS?

I started counting up our 'welcome dinner' guests and got near 40, then had a big panic, and stopped counting.

I had the Bridal Party, Family (including aunts etc), and some OOT people. I really dont want to let it get so large!

Anyone coming from out of state and staying at the hotel will be invited to ours. My FH's dad has 6 siblings so aunts/uncles are out lol

Luckily I don't have family from out of NY except my immediate family so I am lucky there... but I have a HUGE bridal party! I am contemplating inviting no guests/spouses - is that tacky? Honestly!

Isabella, if you could've heard FH when I proposed that idea............. omg, not good! He was like 'you cant invite them to the RD without their date that is coming with them the NEXT day!'

He doesnt care about much, but on that topic, he was pretty adamant.

I personally think if your entire BP is single, it could be done. My BP is mixed, which is probably why he was against it.

My FH was in a wedding last year and they didn't invite me to the RD (and we were engaged) - it didn't bother me but I can see where some people would be upset... my FMIL is paying for the dinner and I feel bad asking them to pay for so many people

Isabella, we talked a bit at the G2G about both of us having huge bridal parties. I'm doing JUST the bridal party. No dates/spouses. Anytime I've been in a wedding, FH hasn't been invited to the RD. I think it's fine.

we have a pretty big OOT guest list so it's not really feasible for us to invite all of those people.
we are limiting the RD to our parents, siblings, and the rest of the bridal party with their guests.

we are doing the following with guests:

bridal party (includes my sis/MOH & FH sis/BM)
3 readers (2 for readings and 1 for the our faithful) 2 gift givers (our godmothers)
OOT guests

HTH!!
