XPost -- FH and I are nuts -- and opinions about K'anapali Beach hotel or Royal Lahaina?
OK, FH and I just bought one-way tickets to Maui -- isn't that crazy?!? We were going back and forth with Travel Tom -- who is really nice, but FH hated the idea of dealing with someone we couldn't sit down with, and we were finding most of the same stuff online for the same price. Then FH found a flight at a great time for a better price than Tom, so he called me and asked should he book it, so I said sure. We know we are going to do Maui, then Molokai, and end up at the Hyat in Kauai. Since we are going fancy in Kauai, we need to be more moderate in Maui. Molokai is so small an uncommercial, it looks so cool and laid back, and very cost effective. Has anyone stayed at either the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel or the Royal Lahaina? They are on the same beach with the Hyatt and Sheraton, and a lot less $ -- any opinions?

The kanapali is a great hotel. My whole family is staying there this summer. Everyone says how great that hotel is. FH's best man stayed there for his honeymoon this oct. FH was there years ago with his family. I haven't stayed there myself but everyone says its a great hotel for the price. Id on't know anything about the other hotel

Did you say you bought one-way tickets to Maui?? Now that's a dream.
Can't comment on it yet, but I'm staying at the K'anapali Beach Hotel in Maui in July. A friend stayed at the Sheraton next door and was annoyed he hadn't stayed at the Kaanapali. It's on the same beach and is so much cheaper. And from their website, it looks like they have so much to do! You KNOW I'm going to be taking ukelele lessons and learning how to make lei's and do the hula. When else in my life can I get to do stuff like that? The hotel advertises that it is the 'most Hawaiian' or something, and I like that.
