xpost: FH's bday suggestions

I need suggestions and thoughts. FH turns 30 this summer and I need help. All of his friends have had parties out at places for their 30th and I want to do something for FH.
BUT...

1. I'm broke considering we'll JUST be settling into our apartment and both paying rent for the first time EVER!
2. I'm going to be in school with finals until the week before and won't have much time.
3. I know his mother isn't going to be any help AT ALL.
4. Again i'm broke.
5. His friend JUST (yesterday) sent an email out to everyone about his wifes 30th bday they are holding at some park which COULD have been an option.
6. Having anything at my house and FH's house is out cuz we don't have the room.

Any other suggestions, thoughts, or opinions? I thought about celebrating with him and obv. taking him out to dinner and stuff and then doing something bigger next year once we are settled in but I dunno. I'd feel horrible that ALL of his friends had something somewhere and I can't even do a freakin' thing for him.

Help! lol

How broke is broke? How much money do you have to spend?

One year Fh and I played hooky on his birthday and I took him to great adventure and did the vip pass which was an extra $200 aside from the admission. It would be fun going in a group too.

How about group camping? Camping trips aren't too expensive and getting drunk in the woods = fun times. Everyone can bring alchohol and food is cheap if everyone brings a lil somethin somethin

Do any of your friends or parents have a house you can use? Let them know you will supply everything. You can also pick a bar or restauraunt and have everybody meet there. This way you only have to pay for you and your fiance.

Great adventure is out. lol FH gets motion sickness from watching tv sometimes ( ). The camping suggestion is interesting... I'd have to look into that some more.

Both of our parents houses are out. As for friends... i dunno, I just feel really bad asking to use their house.

don't go over board.
just b/c all of his friends can afford to do more, let them.
do what you can for your FH. maybe just invite a few close friends (what you can squeeze in) to your home and have a small get together.
make some sanwhiches and some chips and your done!

This is what I was originally thinking and then doing something bigger next year to make up this year.

I just feel bad.

What about organizing a bar crawl? Pick a place that FH likes that has a good selection of places in walking distance (RVC, Freeport, Long Beach). Maybe get some t-shirts made up (could be cheap or kinda corny lol), tell everyone to meet up at bar #1 and just bounce around.

Maybe make up games that have to be placed at each place.

If you really want to add to it - organize a limo to pick you up at home if you want to meet there, drop you off at bar #1 and then pick you up when the night is over. That way no one has to worry about driving.
