XPost: Hawaii Honeymooners

I could use your help!

Newlyweds link

DH and I are finally leaving for our honeymoon to Hawaii on Friday (4 months after the fact!)

If you went to Hawaii on your hm or any other time...what was something you loved and will always remember? What should we definitely not miss?

We will be in Oahu, Maui and Kauai.

Thanks for the help!!

We went in Oahu to the Kuaua Ranch and went ATVing. We went along the coast and the mountains. We saw amazing scenery and movie sets. It was by far the best thing that we did in Hawaii.

I am planning a Hawaii Honeymoon and after doing a good amount of research have come up with this:

In Oahu:
-USS/Arizona Memorial/Pearl Habor
-Dole Plantation
-Diamond Head

In Maui:
-The Road to Hana (beautiful sights & waterfalls along the way)
-Maui Cave Adventures
-Sugar Cane Train (suppose to be really fun)
-Old Lahaina Luau
-Bicycle ride down Haleakala National Park (awesome views & sunrise/sunset)

Not going to Kauai, but two out of three aint bad!
Check 'em out & let me know if u have any questions that I might be able to help with!

Oahu-Lanakai Beach, Sunset Beach, Dole Pineapple Plantation, drive around the island up the Like Like Hwy on the way to the North Shore (stop at Giovanni's Shrimp Truck on the way) and go to Haliewa Town (eat shave ice at Matsumotos), Polynesian Cultural Center. Do not stay in waikiki for more than one day. Go out and explore

Maui-Road to Hana, Bike Haleakaeau the volcano

Kauai- do the Waimea Canyon, north shore princeville area

don't mind my spelling

Kuaui - Kipu's Falls. Check the guide books to find it. It is a hidden fresh water waterfall. You can jump off of it! Also check the guide books for Queens Bath. That was awesome too.

Maui - The sunset at Black Rock. It was the most romantic / amazing sunset ever. And defintiely go into Lahaina for dinner or lunch. It is the coziest little town. I would not reccommend the road to hana if you get car sick!

We are going to Hawaii in October & have never been there before. I suggest you get to a Barnes & Nobles or a Borders, spend some $20 or so & pick up one of those travel books about Hawaii.
I found Hawaii for Dummies to be VERY helpful!! It is easy to read & outlines things to do, places to eat, tips & more in the islands you are going to (which is what I listed previously) and gives you an idea of what it will be like so u are not clueless. Instead of feeling overwhelmed about not knowing, you will feel at ease once u read the book & know...Others also recommend the Frommers book (which the Dummies book uses as a reference) Just pick a book that is easy for you to follow & that u like how it's outlined.
Trust me! Get a book! You can always return it later! LOL I can't, I highlighted the sh!t out of mine (which I also recommend highlighting what interests u so u can find it easier later!)

Oahu - definately Dukes for lunch or dinner

Also - go to Hy's Steakhouse - a bit pricey but soooooo worth it! The filet mignon was out of this world! We made reservations online at Open Table - requested a private booth and we were totally more than accomodated by them. Not only did they give us that - but they gave us a free dessert and took our picture and gave it to us in a frame when we left!

Definately see the North Shore - I would highly recommend the Surf Bus tour. Such a great deal and so much fun!! Also would recommend a tour for Pearl Harbor - that place gets crowded and the tour helped give us the best experience.

Hike Diamond Head if you can - gorgeous views!

If your doing a spa - try the Waikiki Plantation Spa on top of the Outrigger - its on the rooftop and we had great massages!

As for Maui:

Lelani's at the Whalers Village is a great dinner (sunset on the beach) and also the Lahaina Oyster Bar & Grille was great (rooftop dining) and lots of seafood!

Unlike most people - we did NOT enjoy the road to Hana. The travel itself stunk and neither of us like to be in a car for that long. It just wasnt worth being in a car to see some waterfalls etc. But most people seem to love it so its a personal choice thing.

We did the Sunset Luau at the Sheraton - it was ok - nothing special.

But wherever you go make sure you drink a Lava Flow and eat a Hula Pie -- YUMMY!!!

Have fun!!

We loved Hawaii!! We are already planning to go back!!

In oahu go to pearl harbor it's someing amazing!!! Do take a tour to the north shore. You will see alot. We did the Oahu nature tour. It was great!! they stoped at the dole plantation and an old japanese temple. we also saw where they do the pipe line, and we saw sea turtles.

We also went snorkling. We went to hanauma bay for snorkling. If you go, go early it gets very crowded.

In Maui we went snorkling at molokini bay and turtle beach. we took the trip with the boat the pride of Maui. They were excellent!! We also did ATv riding. And the road to hana..there are some amazing sites. Definelty stop at the back sand beach!!

I have that Hawaii for Dummies and Frommers. I just wanted some advice from people who have honeymooned there. There is so much to do, it's so hard to narrow it down!!
