XPost: Keratin vs. Brazilian/Japanese

Any girls had keratin? I know that labellavita just had it but i'm wondering what the difference is between that and the brazilian/japanese straightening is.

I really want to get one of these done...if i could just figure out which is which!! hahaha

I do the brazilian. I know Japanese is a little more permanent and it makes your hair flat. With the brazilian, you still have to blow it out but you will still have body.

And it just blows out straight??

I have the Japanese. Your hair is permanently straight until it grows out. Especially during the first month you don't even have to blow dry it and it is completely straight, and never frizzes. My hair was naturally straight by the root so I last a year before getting it done again. Girls who have curly hair from the root have to get it done every 6 months. Brazilian lasts 2-3 months and you still have to blow it out but I think you still have the option of wearing it curly if you want. It is just easier to manage and less frizzy.

im pretty sure the Brazilian and keratin are the same thing. I had that done and they used both names. My stylist said it is much healthier for your hair. It eventually just wares out after 3-6 months and basically makes your hair straighter and less frizzy. I also had the Japanese straightening years ago - it made my hair straight, but once it started growing out it was curly/wavy at the root and started breaking off. I'd recommend the keratin.

Yes the brazilian and the keratin are the same. I'm a hairdresser and do them all the time. Its the best thing ever. Its very safe for your hair. Its pure protien so it deep conditions the hair. Theres no chemicals(make sure there aren't, some have formaldahyde so check). It does wash out rather then grow out, so there's no root. The better you take care of it, the longer it will last. It's really a great product. You def should look into it. Especially for the summer. Cuts out/down the frizz. But just remember, that the curls will still be there. Its a smoother, not a straightner

If you get the Brazilian, will curls hold on an updo a few weeks later? I want my hair straight for my honeymoon but curls put in for the wedding. I have never tried to curl my hair with the iron right after getting it straightened with japanese (I have about 5 months later and it holds a curl then). I am debating which procedure to get done right before my wedding

i have had the japanese down 3 times. You can still curl your hair for the wedding or events with a curling iron. You might not be able to hold a curl right away, but I have curled my hair with it and it looked awesome and would hold the curl.

Yes, the brazilian will hold a curl. Keratin and Brazilian is the same. When you go on vacation, you will still have to blow it out, but it is easier than not having it. I love the brazilian.

ITA. Its def a must have/do if you'll be in humid place and dont wanna be bothered spending an hour to 2 hours blowing your hair on you HM. Worth the time and money

I had the keratin done in march and its just about time to do it again..my hair literally took 4mins to dry and was really straight..never frizzy and shiny! I did the 24 hour one
Years ago I did the japanese and my hair was ruined for a long time but thats because I have thin hair and had some highlights..the place was not very professional and I had to cut about 4 inches off!

I do Japanese and I LOVE it and I go to an inexpensive place in Woodside if you want it. BUT you cannot curl your hair with it. My hairdresser won't let me get the treatment till after the wedding bc I want curls for the wedding. And if you have fine hair I wouldn't do it.

The Brazilian/Keratin is temp and washes out after a couple of months. It doesn't take the curl away just the frizz.

FM me if you want more info on the Japanese.

I go to a place in woodside too. I was so tempted to get it done 2 months ago but decided against it because i didn't think it would grow out in time and then the bottom of my hair would not curl.. I am sooooo tempted to go the day after the wedding and get the japanese done before we leave for honeymoon this way I dont have to worry about my hair while we are away lol... it is soooo easy when you have the japanese - it was amazingggg

just wanna say how perfect my hair has been through the humidity these last few days, when it would have been curly time comes the end of June..I did try a curling iron on it last night and it held them!! This is the best invention ever I can't even deal with it!! lol

Hahaha I was thinking about going the day after the wedding too to get the japanese but the problem is you can't wash your hair for 3 days later and I don't want my hair to be greasy for the honeymoon and super flat. I think I might get the brazilian the day after the wedding instead bc you could wash it the next day and it won't be super flat.

WHY?

The Keratin is more of a softener...gets rid of the frizz...doesnt get rid of the curls....it's not permanent and it WASHES out (doesn't grow out from the root)

Japanese...permanent makes your hair pin straight and very flat....mine got thicker/more body shortly after but i have really thick hair to begin with. it will hold a curl after it's in for a few months...i can curl mine....it doesnt just wash out though...it GROWS out...so when you gros out you have a different texture from your root and the bottom of your hair.
