xpost: Riu Hotels

Has anyone ever been to one of the Riu's in Mexico or the Dominican Republic?

The Riu we stayed at in the Bahamas for our hm ****** asss and we complained (no ac!, no non-motorized watersports, we had to wake up at 7 am to make dinner reservations every day, etc. etc.) so they are giving us 2 complimentary nights at any one of their resorts in the DR, Mexico or Jamaica

Ive been to the Riu in Ocho Rio's Jamaica .. I liked it. We didn't like our room at first (it smelled musty) so they upgraded us to a really nice room. We didn't have any complaints after that.

I stayed at the RIU Las Palace Americas in Cancun (it was the 21 and over resort). It was stunning. There was 1 hiccup (our toilet kind of broke down, and it took 2 phone calls to get it serviced) but after that it was smooth sailing. We were able to make reservations the day before for the following night. Our best dinner, though, was a walk-in as some people make reservations but then fail to show up. I really loved the place, and the rooms are so stunning. I'd recommend it. If you want more of a party vibe, there's another RIU right next door to this one that was just as gorgeous.

Also, my friend went to the RIU in DR and it was stunning. She seemed to have had a blast. You can't really beat all-inclusive.

i stayed at the Riu Cancun -

i went with my family and FH.. but for the price we REALLY had a great time!

I heard the one in the DR is great! (punta cana one) and with the political condition of mexico now, i wouldn't even consider it a choice.... check out the dominican republic!!
