This is so ridiculous. How does FH feel about this? If it was my sister, I would tell her to just stay home if she is not staying the whole time.

Sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately your FH needs to speak up and make a decision about his family. Personally I would tell your FSIL, all or nothing.

Just wanted to say that although we weren't flooded by Sandy, my hometown, sister & niece, brother-inlaw and inlaws were all affected by Sandy. You really see people's true colors. My husband (then fiancé) busted his a$$ for my sister while still helping his family. My other sister and her husband were MIA. You really see a whole new side to your family/friends and for me, this is something that I can't and won't forget.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this! It's not fair that they're making you feel like this about your wedding day!

2014 bride crashing - she isnt going to come to her brothers wedding? only the ceremony? why bother coming at all...your FH needs to talk to both of them!!!

I'm so sorry, they sound like a miserable bunch. The fact that she doesn't want to go to her brother's wedding shows what kind of a person she is- you're better off without her there. I agree that if you do plan to approach either of them, FH should do it. They're his family, not your's, something you're probably very grateful for. Unfortunately, you can choose your FH, but you can't choose your in-laws.

While not as extreme a situation as your's, FH's family generally doesn't acknowledge that we're getting married- never ask about the wedding, the future, anything. I wish I had a better relationship with them, but at the end of the day you can't change selfish people, you can only ignore them.

Same boat here too. The only thing you can do is be supportive of FH and let him deal. With me (and maybe for anyone with FI issues), I've figured out these 'dances' they do have gone on since FH's childhood. The drama has very little to do with me on a rational level and it sounds that way for you too. For some reason weddings trigger the crazies in some people and often it's jealousy on some level or other.

crashing- I would have FH say all or nothing to his family.. and at least think, if they don't come then you can start your new life off right, without having to included these people in your life! if my FSIL didn't come to my wedding she would be giving up her invitation to any future events/holidays or extended hands in time of need.
