Re: Holland

I was there a few years ago. We booked our room through AAA service and we had a private bath, etc. It is really nice there. Make sure that you go to the Anne Frank House.

Re: Holland

We spent only a day in Amsterdam (and a night) and that was plenty... We stayed in a large hotel with a private bath just off the train station area. The name escapes me now.

Anne Frank's house is a must for visit, we also went to the van gogh museum. We skipped the rejksmuseum, only b/c it was very large, and last time that I have visited it it didn't seem organized. But its a good museum if you like that kind of thing.

Also, along the red light district strip, there is a little 'cartoon' museum, which is fun to visit as well.

Be careful there, the crowds along the red light district area aren't too 'clean' and drugs are offered on every possible corner.

Also, in the City Museum of Amsterdam there was an exhibit on the history of Prostitution, and I found it interesting to look at. It was a temporary exhibit (we went last summer) so I am not sure its still there.

Re: Holland

I agree...you don't need much time for Amsterdam...the best thing to do is to take a canal tour and/or Mike's Bike Tours...the canal tour is done in 4 languages...and the Bike Tour is done in English...and the guides are so funny...

Anne Frank is a definite...but there will be long lines...

you also may want to see the Van Gogh museum and the Ryjks museum...depending if you are museum fans...

I second the van gough and ryjks (sp) museum trips. The red-light district is fine, fun to wander around at night, I stayed in a fairly decent hotel right by there (near the main train station). You can 'do' most of Amsterdam in just a few days. Def book one of the bike tours! Oh and how could I forget you MUST do the Heniken factory tour! Free beer!!! They get you drunk and THEN take you to the gift shop!
