I beg to differ....my poor friend in MD has been sending me her pricing plans and what you get for your money in MD compared to NY....... OH MY GOD........

ok....for example...this one place...beautiful....here is the breakdown

must have a min. price of $12,000 on food & beverage plus a 2,000 rental fee...the 'elegant affair menu' however includes the following:

premium bar (same as everywhere)

Cocktail Hour:
2 choices of carving station
3 passed Hors’doeuvre

Dinner:
soup or salad
and a choice of ONE ENTREE

coffee/tea ...chocolate covered strawberries(no wedding cake)

now total that...14,000...that's 112 pp (inviting 125) and she doesn't get anything for her money....(this also doesn't include tax or gratuity)

Am I missing something here?????????

I had:

Cocktail Hour:
mine just came w/ cheese and fruit
8 choices of cocktail hour food
4 chafing dishes
2 carving stations
2 pasta stations
raw bar

Dinner:
Appetizer
Salad
Intermezzo
Guest choice of 3 entrees

Viennesse Hour & Wedding Cake

& my pp was like 3 dollars more then that?????

Seriously???!!!!!!!

NY weddings are NOT anymore expensive then other states....we may GO BIG but my lord!!!! I feel horrible for her....

is it possible that it's just that one place? that seems awful $$$ for whats included no matter what state you're in

That is crazy!!! My friend was telling me about a wedding that she was in. The wedding was outside of Chicago and the bride paid $15,000 and there was NO beer, wine or alcohol of any type, the guests had to provide their own.

I am with you on this one. MY FH is from MD and I have been combatting the notion that NY weddings are soooo much more expensive. We are paying less and getting more than the 4 other MD weddings we have gone to.

I love it!!!! and I love reminding him of it

i've heard that sometimes we think that weddings are so much cheaper outside of LI -- but when you add together thigns that ppl have to do for weddings like renting table, chairs, linens, the cost of a caterer and individual food items, all the decorations for the venue, etc. -- i'm sure it can add up!

that sux for your friend. for that tell her to move the weding to NY!

I tried that already she didn't buy it lol

that is strange -- one of our friends got married in Buffalo at a country club and she requested meal choices when we responded. and she told us they got charge different $$ per person based on if we chose beef, chicken or fish. she also had to pick the vegetable and the starch for their meals and were also priced accordingly. I thought that was a little crazy.

I'm so used to one price includes everything!!

Devon,
That is really strange. It seems we are getting more for our $$$. We went to my cousins wedding in MA and there was a cash bar. If we wanted a soda or anything to drink we had to pay. We feel that if our guests are going to eat that they are going to need something to drink. No cash bar at our wedding. Devon, we totally understand what you are saying.
