hi!! thanks for thinking about me...
my arms want to fall off...poor John had to go to work and I think he fractured (hairline) his shin when something fell on him...
we didn't get movers since we thought we would only be moving one building...but since we moved altogether in less than a weeks notice we were really unprepared...
I will never move on my own again...We were hoping Johns brother and nephew would come, but his nephews football team made the playoffs, so they couldn't come :(
but its so much roomier...the dog is MUCH happier...we are little further north, but I really like the neighborhood...hopefully we can find a condo...townhouse...house...land in the next 6 months![]()

I am glad that it went alright, except for John's shin!!. I am also glad Elvis is happier, somtimes they get strange, with changes.

did you stay within the same complex?
We're debating our moving strategy at the moment. We were originallt going with a trailer behind the car idea, but not we're investigating the companies that drive you'r stuff over in a semi...we'd 'rent' a few feet of space and they deliver door to door.
It be nice to NOT have to deal with a trailer.

Lisa...honestly John and I had a lot of fun in the truck together going cross country...and we only fought once when an 18 wheeler tried to shove us off the road...no kidding...and for that reason...I would probably not drive myself again...some of those guys are on coke or other drugs so they can make good time (not all - just a few...but unfortunately we ran into one of the few)
I mailed about 10 boxes before I left in May...and my dad was trying to talk me into renting space...but for a little bit it wasn't bad to ship UPS...
AND you have a 3000 mile rest before unloading...we had only 5 miles...(we decided not to stay in our complex...we moved to another one)

we'll still be driving cross country, just maybe without the trailer. I'm concerned it may not be big enough, and I don't want to drive a huge truck (also they're super expensive and we have the cars to get across too).

lisa...we just rented a budget 15' and it didn't hold everything...and there was tons of stuff we left behind in NY...
not sure what you have but we had:
a king bed and a full
a large and small dresser
a 3-piece sectional couch (actually 2 with a chase)
a desk (John threw his away since he wanted a new one)
2 computer chairs
a table and 4 chairs
about 20 boxes
2 bikes
about 20 paintings
our suitcases filled with clothes
our computers (John has many...2 towers, a double wide tower and 2 laptops)
27' TV and 19' TV
it just adds up....

you had a ton of stuff!
we're not really taking any furniture or beds, but we have a lot of kitchen stuff, gear/toys, tools, clothes, wine racks, etc.
I'm afraid of how it will add up, so I'd rather not try and squish in in the trailer.

Erica I'm glad your move went well. I didn't even know you were doing it this weekend. Moving is a pain in the butt. Hopefully you will find something that you completely love very soon and be all settled!!![]()

wendy...we didn't know we were doing this until 5 days before!!! it was last minute...it was either move into another building for at least another month waiting for our condo...or just get the hell out...

DH and I agreed that we would NEVER move ourselves ever again! And that was 4 yrs ago when we really didn't even have that much furniture....we're really added on since then. It's so much work and hassle, we'll definitely splurge for a professional when the times comes![]()

Teri...I don't know what I was thinking...I thougth since it was only 5 miles and no stairs...it wouldn't be so bad...![]()
never again...I let John splurge with the money we saved though...since he worked so hard...

we only signed a 6 month lease...I hope that is enough time to find a new place...since we cancelled on our condo purchase...![]()
