Yahoo! members bump from 05 board

Alright girls, I know I'm preaching to the choir and that you are all really good with not giving out information but I have to share this because I get so mad! I keep receiving e-mails from Yahoo saying that they need my bank account number and pin number that I use at the ATM because something about some yahoo users are having a hard time accessing their bank account. NEVER, EVER, EVER, give out your bank account information and NEVER, EVER, EVER, give out your PIN! I cannot stand people that come up with these scams thinking that hard working people 'owe' them money!!!!!! Please be careful out there!

Thanks for the heads up...I never open mail fromanyone I don't know...and I sure as heck wouldn't give out my personal info to someone that asked me...people need to get a life rather than scam on others

This keeps happening to me from Washington Mutual. They keep asing for my information stating there are problems with my account. I don't have an account with them.

Thanks for the warning to everyone. You can never be too cautious.

Thanks for the warning. I've gotten a couple and they really look authentic. I can see how people get scammed.

Also watch out for the paypal one. It is so realistic that they actually send you to a site that is a copy of paypal. I almost fell for it and then thought to email paypal and check. Of course, they didn't send it!

Also watch out for non-bank ATM's like ones in convenience stores/bars and such (free standing ones) many are rigged to steal your information and then the hackers can hack into your accounts and withdraw money. One report even linked it to identity theft.

Always go to an ATM at a reputable bank.

I've gotten the washington mutual one too! It was weird though because the address it was sent to was not exactly my correct email address, so I thought oh, somehow this got sent to me instead of this other person. So I tried to forward it to 'that person' and it then I got a mailer daemon response. I really thought it was washington mutual, but I don't even have an account with them. Weird.

Thanks for the warning, but I always use the rule of thumb 'If I don't know the from.....DELETE!!!'

I forgot all about the paypal one. I have gotten quite a few of those also. And they do look so real!

I also got the paypal but before I did not even go to the link. I contacted paypal myself. I thought I'd check it out since I've ordering online recently, it never hurts to check. Paypal wrote me back and ofcourse said they never sent this.
And those people that got emails from Washington Mutual, I'd contact the institution. In this age of Identity Theft, it doesn't hurt to check with the institution and make sure. You don't want anybody using your information or trying to open accounts with your information. I'd just follow up with the institution just to make sure.
Like we don't have enough things to worry about....
