i tell my fh(who is a mets fan) this and he insistantly goes 'not yet, go to espn.com'...
it'll be a couple days

I think its close to a done deal ... I am shocked and excited!!!!!! Is A-Rod gonna play 3rd base, since Jeter is at shortstop?

I am the biggest Yankee fan ever, but unfortuantely FH is the biggest Mets fans ever (its our biggest difference, but heck I still love the guy .. even if his taste in baseball teams STINKS!)

I just am SO excited at the thought of this happening !! But it'll just be another reason for us to fight this year (when it comes to baseball, that is ... heh heh hehe)

OK .. we're both tied for biggest fans

Its funny I was just saying last week that I was so disappointed in all the stuff going on in the off-season, what with Clemens going to Houston (what a jerk) losing Petitte and Wells, and just the team not being 'the same' anymore .. I'll always be a Yankee fan in good times and bad (its in my blood!) but I really wasn't too psyched for this season..

This is gonna get interesting with A-Rod (crossing my fingers....!!!)

I share partial-season tickets with my brother, so I'm not sure how we're gonna break down the game this year. As I said, I cannot go with FH (he's a Mets fan) so I usually go with my friends or my bro!

I'm excited about possibly getting the best player in baseball. But I don't like losing Soriano. He has the same, if not better, numbers that A-Rod had a couple of years ago. I think Soriano is one day going to be known as the best player in baseball.

Yes he was awful in the playoffs, but I think he would have been better if he wasn't in the lead off spot. I was anxious to see how he would have done this year not leading off.

Still A-Rod is one Hell of a pick up and if we get him it would greatly improve the lineup.

Alex Rodriguez will be in pinstripes this season. The Yankees and the Rangers have agreed to a blockbuster trade that will send A-Rod to the Bronx in exchange for Alfonso Soriano and a player to be named. Scott Miller says the Yankees beat their archrival Red Sox once again.

I am so excited, but like Jenn I am worried about losing Soriano too. But you can't argue with having the best player in baseball on your team as being a huge, huge plus.

The trade has to be approved by the player's union and MLB and then it will be a done deal. And remember...it was in that area that Boston lost A-Rod so it's not a done deal yet.

I'm really excited, but still no guarantee that they will win. They let a lot of good players go this off-season (Pettitte for example ..arghhh!)and I'm not sure about those they got in return. But if anyone can make up for it..it's A-Rod!!!

And I really hate that about sports.. it's all about the money. I love the Rangers .. and they get all these high price guys that never pan out.. they just need to develop their own.

Kinda like what the Yankees did in 96.

Then again, the Yankees would have never won in 98 99 or 00 if they didn't have the money to keep their guys.

Then again.. some teams spend money awfully.... AKA.. you guessed it -- the Mets.

It's just so.. oh nevermind.. I'm going to bed. LOL Have a good night!

In our relationship, I'm the Yankee fan and he's the Mets fan, too .. (and we are BIG fans of our respective teams, too... it causes lots of little problems during the subway series!!)

Gotta say that I'm a little disappointed to see Soriano go, because I think he's a terrific player and a good guy .. seems to add a lot of youth and energy to the team .. so that part sux..

A-Rod is gonna fit great on the Yanks .. it makes up for all the other stupid things the Yankees have done this off-season!

And the very fact that A-Rod's deal with BOSTON fell through, and we turned around and got him Well that's just about the sweetest part of this all!!!!!

Its like Boston losing the Babe all over again!!!

Gotta love being a Yankee fan right now.. it must be very quiet in Beantown

I didn't know her in 2000.. that would have been weird with those two teams playing.. I can tell you this though.... We do kid each other a lot. I usually initiate.. all in good fun.

BUT.. in 2000... the Mets played the SF Giants.. which is my Dad's team.. and I worship my Pop.. but we were so at each other's throat during that series. I felt bad when the Mets won. I never wanted to play the Giants because of that. He's been rooting for them since the 1940's.

It was like seeing the Cubs lose to the Marlins this year . I 'm not a Cubs fan in the least, but that really did break my heart . those poor fans looked SO crushed

FH and my Mets/Yankees conflict is all in good fun, too .. We LOVE to argue about it. And had it NOT been for that difference between us, we would have NEVER met. That is part of the reason we got together in the first place.... had I just been another Mets fan, he would have never talked to me! Looooong story ....

Variety makes the world go round... and it's always good if two people are the BASICALLY the same but not TOTALLY the same. I like if we can argue in fun..

One time a member of her family who loves the Yanks just started getting so obnoxious over it. I just smiled. I laughed it off though I was fuming. She was on my side though saying what a jerk he had been.. I then said.. 'well,, maybe there is hope you'll root for the right team'.. and she's like.. 'um.. no way'... So that's cool. I respect that.
