I am mad at the Yankees!

why?

Re: Yankee's Question

I'm taking a wild guess here.. (ok not really a wild guess...)

But I think you are mad (and rightfully so, I might add ) that this has to do with the fact that the Yankee organization raised 'heck' becuase the Devil Rays were late to arrive to their game in NY because of Hurrican Frances

I am a Yankee fan, and I am ashamed that they would be so insensitive to the fact that these players were making sure their families were SAFE before deciding to hop on a plane to play a ballgame.

How are things down there, DLWDLG?

Re: Yankee's Question

Because they were trying to force a forfit from Tampa.

Re: Yankee's Question

You know the Yankees are in 'desperation mode' when they tried to force a forfeit on Tampa for showing up late because of Hurricane Frances.

And for the sake of another Yankee flame war... i'll end my post/comments here.

I am a Yankee fan but this really pisses me off so you can go ahead and flame away for all I care.

Agreed! ... Not that I want to debate the Yankees with you DjPill, but I couldn't agree more with DLWDLG about how pathetic and insensitive this was on the Yankees part.

Everyone on this site knows how much I love the Yankees, and I will defend my team in any situation... but not this time..

I agree... As a yankee fan I'm embarrased about how they reacted. Part of me sees their point, but considering the circumstances I can't believe that request was even made.

Re: Yankee's Question

Uhmmmm just a little side note..
On 9/11 it was not only the Yankees that cancelled the games
ALL of NBL/ABL did not play...nor did other sports!
it was not due to their requests
PLUS there weren't a lot of planes coming into NY that week!

But i still agree...i am ashamed of their pettiness

Re: Yankee's Question

I am shocked by them pushing the forfeit as well but here's their arguement and I have to agree with this:

1) Tampa knew on Friday that their games were cancelled for Saturday and Sunday so why didn't they fly out Friday night or Saturday morning so that they could make sure they were here for Monday's day game?

2) Last year when hurricane Isabel was about to hit Baltimore the Yankees wanted to get out of town to not put themselves in danger and because they knew that they game would not be able to be played. MLB told them that if they leave they had to forfeit. In the end the game started but did not get to finish the whole game. So the Yankees are questioning why the rules have suddenly changed.

As far as 9/11 goes and this there's a big difference also. Besides the fact that MLB cancelled all of baseball due to 9/11, the game in NY was cancelled immediately due to safety reasons. Not because the organization chose that it was more important for players to be with their families during the hard and dangerous times. Tampa decided to let the team stay with their families. It's different. They didn't decide to stay put because of safety, they had a chance to get out before the hurricane hit.

I agree that it's wrong of the Yankees to ask for a forfeit. And I can 100% understand why Tampa wanted to stay with their family. But I can also see why the Yankees are questioning it. Tampa had a chance to avoid this problem and they didn't.
