Eeek. Why would they do that? I like Wells - Mussina scares me. But I'm a Mets fan, so...

Re: Yankees switched pitchers for tonight
They announced that last night. Torre is doing that because after 5 days of rest Mussina is not that effective. Wells is pitching tomorrow with Pettite to follow on Wednesday.

Wells also hurt himself running out of the dugout during the meelee. I wonder if tonights game will be in rounds instead of innings?

Re: Yankees switched pitchers for tonight
I typed up a whole reply and for some reason it didn't post. So here's a recap of what I had to say.
This change will benefit the Yankees. By the Red Sox switching their rotation they now put Burkett as the game 6 starter. If this series goes 6 games, would you want Burkett to be the deciding factor as to whether or not you go to the World Series? I know I wouldn't.

Re: Yankees switched pitchers for tonight
I think the Yankees will definitly benefit tonight. They seem to have a win lose relationship with Wakefield. One day he is great and beats them, but next time they see him they hammer him. So in Game 1 he won, but today, he is going DOWN!!!
GO YANKEES!!!!!!

Re: Yankees switched pitchers for tonight
Both teams switched pitchers. Too bad, because I though it was going to be an easy win against Burkett. Oh well, so it will be a more difficult win!
I read that they have called in the National Guard and some FBI to Fenway for security.

Re: Yankees switched pitchers for tonight
The security is for the rowdy Boston fans!! Apparently after they beat the A's (in Oakland) there were several incidents around Fenway Park of people rioting, overturning cars and setting fires!! And their team won! This does not happen in New York even when the New York teams lose! .
Also in 1999 when the Yankees played the Red Sox in the ALCS the Boston fans threw stuff on the field and at the Yankees players and the game was delayed for eight minutes. Real classy!!
I too wish that Burkett was pitching tonight, but I think that Messina will pitch better because he hasn't had too much rest. Wells is pitching in Tuesday's game.
