So I counted ahead and I am supposed to get my period on my wedding day. I plan on skipping my period THIS time so that I move the whole thing up a week later in October (so that I don't have spotting around my wedding). I am on YAZ and at the end of my third row. There are 3 or 4 pink pills on row 4 and then white. I know that with other types of BC pills, you would just skip the entire last row and start your new pack on sunday (the day you should have taken the first placebo pill). What do I do with YAZ? Same thing even though I have a few 'real' pills in the beginning of the week?
I would call my doc but she moved to CA in June and I haven't gotten a new doctor yet.
TIA!

Re: YAZ users - question about skipping last row ...
I'm on Yaz and I plan on skipping the month of October. I am just going to start the new pack when I get to the 4 white pills. I've done it before and had no spotting.

I'm not on Yaz but am on a similar style pill with some inactive and some 'slightlly-active' in the last week. I skip the entire last week when I need to do so.....that's my 2 cents. Skip all 7!

Yup - take all the active pills and just skip the placebos.

That is what I thought about doing - because otherwise the new pack wouldn't end on a saturday and I wouldn't start the following one on a sunday, which would just confuse the hell out of me.

With Yaz the first 24 pills have the exact same chemical composition - this is called a 'monophasic' pill. Other BCs have biphasic and triphasic like you described - where the pills have different chemical compositions depending on the time in your cycle. So, w/Yaz, the first 3 pills in the final row of the pack aren't 'slightly-active' but are instead totally active - just as active as all the other pills in the pack.
HTH.

but then what do I do when the placebos of nthe NEXT pack end on a wednesday or whatever? wait until the following sunday and start a new pack? I am supposed to start on sundays. would that make me not protected, if I am not taking anything for a few days?

I would just start a new pack after the four placebos end even though it's not Sunday.
Jen, if you want I'd be more than glad to call my doctor and ask this question since you don't have a doctor right now. I'll just pretend it's for me. Let me know!

That would be great if you could call! I am just so used to starting on sundays ... it would confuse me not to. Would love to know the proper way to do it with Yaz! (I was on Yasmin, that would have been easier since the last week was all placebos!)
Thanks hon!

Why don't you skip it at the time of your wedding, otherwise aren't you going to have your period on your honeymoon?

I think by skipping now I get it a week EARLY right?? because I am skipping it now, I am bumping up the process I think.
I don't want to skip the week of my wedding because people say you can spot and I'd like to try to avoid that. don't want to worry about ANYTHING unnecessary!

Re: YAZ users - question about skipping last row ...
I was on YAZ and skipped the placebos once..for a different reason ( i had a pre-scheduled gyn appt. like 4 months in advance and didn't want to miss it, since it was hard to get an appt.) Anyways..i skipped the placebos and started taking the new pack of active pills right away and YES, it does change the schedule of the next set of pills. You won't be starting on sundays anymore. You are smart to do it now and change your cycle. You can have some spotting the first time you do it. You will move up your next period a week. I didn't use any backup method, I don't think you need to, I've asked my doctor about skipping the placebos, and she never said it was a problem.
Why do you think you'll be unprotected?

Re: YAZ users - question about skipping last row ...
I was actually just at the GYN today for a check up and I mentioned to him that I would have AF starting the day after my wedding.. and since I too am on Yaz, i asked him if I could skip all of the placebos and start the new pack to avoid having it at all..
It's totally safe.. yet I also asked if I was 'safe' and he said 'absolutely'.
