Yeah my STAR application was approved!

Matt called and it is approved. One less thing I need to worry about.

My DH just found out too but it was because he was trying to figure out some other tax stuff! They didn't call us so far...Glad that is taken care of!

they didn't call we called them. We were worried since we only closed Nov 14th.

If you own a house on LI you want to apply. It is basically a discount on your taxes. It will save you anywhere from $600 to say $1000. I think mine is just under $1000. Do a search on google for Nassau county STAR program.
It will bring up all the info. But you have to apply by Jan 2nd.

it's typically 20%.. but you need to apply TODAY.. tomorrow is the LAST day.

So I need to call them to find out if I'm approved? I haven't heard anything either and I want to let my mortgage company know.

We are in the town of Islip. STAR application deadline is March 1.

The previous owners of our home saved approx. $ 500 with basic STAR!!

We just found out that we saved alot of $$ with the STAR program. We're really happy about this, but where do we exactly see the deduction?? Isn't our mortgage payment going to be a little less now?? Anyone know how this works?

I'm not too sure, My deadline I think was Jan. 1st. I think application for next year start in Sept. I was just wondering if the deduction is supposed to lower your mortgage payment at all.
