Sooooooooo... Wedding is Memorial Day weekend 07 BIG HOLIDAY WEEKEND
When do I block off hotel rooms? I should do it soon, I know. But how do I know how many OOT guests there will be? It's over a year away, they might say they can come now but a lot can change in a year and 4 months. I don't want to have to pay for rooms that aren't being occupied.

Re: yeeek...hotels!!!!!
I'd reserve them now, and let the hotel know your situation. When you get your RSVP's, then let them know how many rooms you will need. Hope this helps a little.

Re: yeeek...hotels!!!!!
I am getting married memorial day weekend but this year! I must tell you that I blocked rooms 1 year in advance!! I just estimated the amount and added ten rooms. I called back frequently to see if any were booked and then I added more! Rooms that aren't taken are dropped 1 month before the wedding.

Thanks girls!
I'm thinking of the Hyatt Regency Wind Watch in Hauppauge which is 10 min from the Watermill. They have a lounge there for an after wedding get-together. The Holiday Inn that the Watermill recommends does not. Since my wedding is over at 5:30, I want to keep the party going!

Also an idea is the Holiday Inn Express off the LIE. They are one of Watermills vendors and offer free shuttle bus for your guests.
Whatever you decide to do, I would call and find out how far advance you will need to book. Sometimes they do not book too far because they do not have their rates out.
Good Luck!!

Are you going to the showcase on Jan 24th? It's at the Watermill and they will probably have a representative there from the Holiday Inn Express. They did last time.
It's also fun to have some of the food and meet vendors face to face

Watermill girls...did u call and get pricing for yet for rooms at any hotels? i called holiday inn..w/ shuttle and breakfast they quoted me 119$........Hyatt was 123$ but if I dont fill 10 rooms than I have to pay?! Im not liking that idea at all....so I may have to forget that 1, even though it was my fav! Then there was the marriot in islandia...i like it that its spacious and has a bar...and we can rent a room if we do a brunch the next day, plus price was great 99$ just curious if im missing any other hotels in the area? thanks!

Re: yeeek...hotels!!!!!
The Hyatt suggests blocking at least one year in advance.
I thought you could block 20 for a night and not be charged a penalty if they don't all get booked, they just get released to the public at the end of the period they give you to block.
Connie is the person to contact there about setting up a contract and getting more information.
Feel free to FM me if you need anymore Hyatt info, I've spoken to them a lot!

Just so you know I beleive the Marriott makes you responsible for 80% of the rooms. There's a Marriott Courtyard in Ronkonkoma that is less than the one in Islandia and then let the rooms go 1 month before your date.
