So yesterday, my FH and I moved into our first apartment together (yes ladies, I am a sinner, LOL!). Now, I only took enough clothes for a week because I have not had time to go through everything. So as I was leaving I became emotional. I was crying, my mother was crying. It was a big old mess. When I had to say goodbye to my dog, well, that was worse. I know this is going to sound silly but I was trying to explain to my dog why I was leaving, I don't want her to feel abandoned. My FH was so cute. He was telling my mother, 'I promise I am going to take care of her.' My mother was replying, 'I have no doubt that you will not take care of her.' In the car, he was saying, 'Think of it like we are going to college again. 'He then started asking, 'So what time do we have to meet in the quad?' 'Who is our RA?' Just trying to cheer me up and i did stop crying. Anyway, we got to the apartment and it went great. It was nice sleeping next to him and waking up to him. Although I am still sad, I KNOW it will subside. Just wanted to share It has been emotional week, I don't want to know how I am going to be the day of the wedding!

Re: Yesterday, was an emotional day.....(kinda long)
I'm not moving in with my FH until the wedding day and I can only imagine how emotional I'm going to be that day - doing the move and the wedding at once! I think you moving in with your FH beforehand is great because by the day of the wedding, you should be feeling less sad about having left your parents home and you'll be thrilled about your wedding!
Congrats on the move!!!

I can completely relate! I've been very sad about leaving my mom and my home behind. It's a very emotional time in our lives! You'll always have the closeness with your family, but it's going to change, maybe even get better! Don't worry!

Wendi!!!
It is a very emotional step in your life as you and Chris begin your life together. Good thing Chris is such a great guy! Every day will get a little easier and once you guys are married, I think it will be a less sad.
I'm here for you if you need anything...I know I will be going through this same thing in a few months!

Awww! Like the other's said, it is a totally normal reaction. It's a big deal to leave your parents house. I moved in with FH in the fall and kept feeling like it was temporary for a long time. I've been there 9 months and I told him recently that it really feels like home now. It'll take a little while but you'll adjust. I promise. My parents had a hard time with it in the beginning, but they're pretty used to it now, too. Don't worry, it'll get easier. Feel better

Awww!!! Dont be sad!!! FH sounds so sweet trying to cheer you up!! My parents come over all the time and we go over their house all the time too. I am very close to my mom. I talk to her everyday and see her every weekend.

Awww I know its a very emotional time but it is also a very happy one. I am waiting to move in till the wedding and I think about it all the time. Being an only child I feel soo bad that my parents wont have me home anymore because we are soo close..... and leaving the Cat is even worse lol..... Leaving home is sad in one aspect but happy in another.... Hope you feel better and Good Luck!!!!!!

I can ASOLUTELY relate! When FH and I moved in together I was upset for 2 weeks. I was so sad about leaving the home I grew up in and I'm not good with change to begin with. I made myself feel better with weekly dinner dates with my parents and a very supportive FH. It was hard for him at first to not take it personally, but he eventually realized that my sadness had nothing to do with living with him and everything to do with ME. 3 years later, I can't imagine living anywhere else!!

I can completely relate! We're not moving in together until right after the wedding, but I already can't think about it without crying. We stay overnight with FH most of the week, but Kayleig & I still live in my parent's house. I feel awful because not only will my parents & I be emotional over me leaving their house, but they'll be sad that their granddaughter is leaving too. I'm scared of how my daughter is going to handle waking up in the morning & not being able to go right downstairs to see her Mima.

oh! i can TOTALLY relate! i was the same way! and i was moving 2 hours away from my parents, and the only town i had ever lived in! so that made it even worse!! i cried like crazy!! BUT, i settled in, and now 2 years later, i'm really happy! i still do miss my parents, and sometimes still cry when i'm leaving after a visit with them... but its so amazing to know that DH and i have started our own great life together, and are now our own little 'family'.... it WILL get easier!!

AW that is too sweet! The waking up part! The rest made me teary eyed, esp. the doggy part! It'll get better and easier. Congrats on your move!

Re: Yesterday, was an emotional day.....(kinda long)
I just got married 3 weeks ago. I was fine for the 2 weeks we were on our honeymoon. But last week was our first week in our own home. I cried every single day. I am so sad not to be living with my family. I miss them so much. I saw my mom 4 times last week. LOL
DH has been so great and so supportive. He knows that I love him more than anything and this sadness has nothing to do with him. It's so overwhelming. I have been good so far this week, I am hoping it gets easier and easier every day.
