Yet another FMIL vent...sorry, long...

I feel bad b/c this is yet anotherFMIL vent post from me...Sorry girls!!!!!
FH and I are paying for the majority of our wedding, my mom is the only one that has helped us out with anything. We are having a relatively small wedding, we only invited 140 guests. We decided we wanted it to be a small affair, w/o having to cut out a lot of our friends...We split the list, 1/2 for me and 1/2 for him...He ended up with 6 open spaces. He told his grandmother and mother they could both invite 3 people...His mother, who has not reached into her pocket once(which is fine, but then at least be quiet when decisions have to be made) gives him a list of 20 guests, her friends that neither of us has ever met. He told her he would discuss this with her tomorrow (he is still recovering from his shoulder surgery, and in a lot of pain)...but that wasn;t enough...now she wants her friends, who I HAVE NEVER met invited to my shower!! ***!!!??? Is she crazy? nothing can ever be simple with her!
She is so pushy and rather than realize this is our day, she is giving up trouble at every single turn!!!!!!!
Sorry girls...long vent is now over!
If I think of anything else offensive, I will edit this post and add more!

I would actually solve that problem...Don't send the invites...OOPS! Did they get lost in the mail? That damn post office....

how rude..at least she should offer to pay for the extra people she wants to invite..

This is something I would do, I would always stick to this 'we really just want people close to us with us on our special day' for any guest issues.
TG I havent really had any of these problems yet

NO WAY!!! She said that? How rude!! Could she be anymore selfish & inconsiderate? Her son is getting married for goodness sakes & all newleyweds can use all the financial help they can get & she would rather shell it out so her friends can attend instead of giving it to you guys... not cool. I agree that Fh should be the one to break it to her. So sorry

Oh Tracy - I'm so sorry your are having so much trouble with FMIL. It stinks to be in that kind of situation.

some balls!!!! that's not her paying for them, that's you paying for them then. I would just say no, and that's final.
