Yet more advice (post wedding) RE: Honeymoon delay
We delayed our honeymoon by a week.
Got married Oct 23rd. Left for honeymoon Oct 30th.
WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID
1. We got to deposit our checks and such ourselves on Monday.
2. Those checks had plenty of time to clear for use during our honeymoon (BIG BIG deal for us)
3. We got the tuxes back and were able to make sure all was taken care of. Got the dress back the house myself so I feel confident of it's care.
4. SLEEP, We slept in on Sunday (after taking my parents to the airport) and even stayed at the hotel until monday so we could have 'alone' time
5. We took off two days before the wedding and the monday after. Working the other days gave us more time to 'clean up'.
6. Off chance, *I* got sick as a dog. Standing out in the cold taking photos and that cold going around caught me. I was too tired to fight it off. Glad I was sick the week after my wedding and not DURING my honeymoon.
7. EASY PACKING. Since we weren't leaving the next day for our honeymoon no real need to pack up everything while worry about the other wedding details. This is REALLY a great relief. Didn't bother packing until 5 days after our wedding
8. Gift placement. We had time to put up the gifts in the basement and make sure we kept stuff organized. Plus for some odd reason we got two Wafflemakers from Williams Sonoma so we had time now to return that gift and purchase something else.
9. The feeling of 'we're married' (again) was nice. Got a chance to show off my rings to my coworkers and such before leaving and come on LIW and give a quick review.
10. Weather, price, deal. November is a slow month for Disney so it worked out well for us. Plus we got to spend Halloween in Disney and do a murder mystery dinner which was cool. Saved money, had great weather and a fantastic time.
It was just nice to have a break in between. If you're thinking of waiting a bit for weather, money or other reasons, I HIGHLY recommend it. All these reasons above and more meant we FULLY enjoyed ourselves during our honeymoon. We weren't tired or worried about last minute after-wedding details. Everything on our honeymoon was just about us. You only 'honeymoon' once, make it worth your while!
