FH and I are writing our own vows. Shoudl i say 'you complete me' in mine? it's kind of a joke of ours because we think it's insanely cheesy ... but on the other hand, i don't want my vows to be cheesy.
what thinkest thou?

Re: you complete me
I wouldn't but I wouldn't even be able to write my own vows... well not if I had to read them out loud in front of people.

Re: you complete me
if you guys think its cheesy, then I wouldn't do it. If its something you guys have and always say to each other, then I would.

why dont you have it engraved on your wedding bands instead? that way its still a part of the ceremony but private!

We are writing our own vows too.. I would not put it in. Even if its something cheesy and personal btwn the two of you it may come across to everyone else as cheesy just because theyre not in on your private jokes ya know? And not that youre writing the vows for everyone else but nonetheless, everyone is still there listening.

I think it would be cute, since its like a private joke between you guys. The people at your ceremony might get a kick out of it too!

Re: you complete me
DH and I had a lot of humor in our vows...however, we wrote ours together as one 'script,' so we knew what the other was going to say. If it's one of your 'things,' go for it!
Something that helped DH and I from going too overboard was creating two wordboxes (hello, elementary school!) when we were writing our vows: one for our jokes (and not jokes of the moment--things we know we'll remember), and one for the sentimental things we wanted to. it really helped us balance out humor and sincerity :).
