This morning 2am, Nicholas starts his hunger cry... John and I are both so exhausted we can barely lift our heads off the pillow... Ive been doing night feedings since I nurse him through the night. If I also supplement after a nursing, then if John is awake, he always offers to do that part to give me a little break...![]()
Well at 2am this morning, I REALLY couldnt get up. I dont think I even had the energy to hold the little munchkin... so half asleep I said to John 'Can you give him a bottle?'... and off he went...
At around 2:45am, John comes into the bedroom and whispers... 'Anna...I just made a big boo boo'... and Im thinking 'Im going to kill him if he's waking me up for small talk' so I barely nod my head as if to say 'what?' & he goes 'I gave him whole milk by mistake' !![]()

I didnt know HOW bad this was, but I do know that newborns cannot digest cow's milk and that it is not something their tummies can handle...![]()

I jumped right out of bed, and 'sleepwalked' to the phone...
Nicholas was looking like the happiest camper EVER. He was wide awake and totally fine. John gave him 4oz and he seemed to still be hungry so he put another couple of ounces after that was done, and after Nicholas INHALED 5oz, it dawned on him that it was NOT Enfamil he was feeding him! He said it seemed like Nicholas could have had another 4oz with no problem![]()

John has been 'in charge' of John Anthony for months now, and JA has a good 3-4 bottles of milk per day... so he prepared the milk bottle almost without thinking...
So luckily I knew the number to my hospital's Nursery... I called them to play it safe... I was told 'Its OK, It happens, Its OK' to just watch his behavior, if he looked like he was in any discomfort or if he threw up or anything, to call my Ped in the morning...
Luckily, we have had no problems and he has been fine...
UGH, what a night !!!
(and of course, my luck, the feeding that I should have slept through...MEN!![]()

More good news to my happy ending, John took a sick day, so that I can get some much needed rest (I slept till 9:30am! ) and he's been working on home projects (our bedroom for now) all day...
