So I planned my wedding a few years ago. I fell in love with the first hall I saw and we booked it. it turns out it's one of the more expensive halls (No Oheka or even Russo's, but above average). Now we're looking to plan again, but we really don't have money, so I'm definitely looking to downscale the wedding certainly in terms of size, and I'm trying to not be married to my original hall for that reason.
I've been considering some halls that are a bit less expensive, but when the price is 'too low' it worries me. What do you think the difference is between a more expensive hall and a less expensive hall? If I go to a hall that's $20-40 less pp with a smaller minimum, what am I sacrificing, besides debt?
What have you ladies found?

Honestly my RH was not alot (in my opinion) at all. I have heard nothing be great reviews about them. The reason I checked them out was becuase soooo many people said that the food there was so good. I went for a food tasting..... AMAZING!!! FM me if you want more info.

I totally agree with ChrissyV729, Larkfield Manor is super affordable and the amount of food and the quality of food you get for the price is amazing.
The ceremony area is also gorgeous, and the people who work there are so helpful and friendly.

I disagree! Swan Club was pretty inexpensive and they were amazing.... my guests were raving about the place and the food! I had no complaints about them whatsoever...
ETA: and the guests think we must have paid a fortune for it

Re: 'You get what you pay for?'
I think that there are halls out there that are very very inexpensive and you might sacrifice location or something but to be completely honest, when you find a hall that is fairly inexpensive it doesn't mean that 'you get what you pay for' has to be negative. My hall is fairly inexpensive and I feel that I am getting a lot for my money.

DITTO. Some of those expensive halls, you actually pay for the place & branding/name and not for the food. Plus at times you even have to pay extra just to get the real 'good food' in their menu. A higher price doesnt necessarily equate to better service.

I think sometimes places are cheaper depending on location, time of year, etc. So just because a place is $20 cheaper per head doesn't mean that it's worse or not as good as another place. In the end, if you like the place and it is what you can afford, I say you just go with it. It's better to have a wedding at a place that you really like and end up with no debt then have one at another place that you can't afford and end up with debt for years to come. If you need help with places, you can FM me. We saw 12 places before we booked. Good Luck!!!!!

I agree with you. I went to a wedding at the beginning of July at a higher end RH (one that I thought I would be very impressed with) and the food was terrible. The cocktail hour selection was very disappointing as well as the selection of drinks at the bar. On the other hand, I went to a wedding at Fox Hollow and that one was far better than the more expensive place. They had more selections at the cocktail hour and a choice of 7 meals for dinner instead of 4.
Just my personal opinion though.

I recommend Jericho Terrace, Fox Hollow, Westbury Manor, Chateau Briand, and Chateau Le Mer. Chateau Briand gave me the best deal in terms of price but we decided to go with Jericho Terrace because we fell in love with it.

I'm using Riviera for my RH and I personally love it and thinks it's extremely affordable. I've also heard nothing but good things from previous brides.
FM me if you want more info on pricing.

Think outside the box - instead of booking a typical wedding hall, you can find great locations where you can bring in your own caterer - in some instances can be a less expensive option.
