I told my younger sister that she cannot bring her younger son .. I have two nephews, one of them is my ring bearer (the older one, 7) .. The younger one I said cannot come to the wedding because hes a nightmare. Im sorry, I love him but its a fact. Hes misbehaved, disrespectful and doesnt listen to anyone. Soo NO THANKS for any of that on our wedding day ..
Now I find out that one of FH's aunts is bringing her adopted 5 year old. Whatever, thats fine but now what am I supposed to say to my sister that I said her 4 year old cant come ...

say NO... you want no kids, then the answer is NO... bridal party is the exception...
but, your wedding is 4 months away, your nephew could 'grow up' a little by then and calm down.

That is a sticky situation. I don't know. Why can't FH tell his Aunt it is an adult only wedding??

My sister doesnt know how to control him and so I dont want any mishaps at the wedding .. I can picture him trying to run into the lakes chasing the swans ..

They live in Chicago and bring the kids everywhere .. And FSIL just had her wedding last year and allowed them to come (only kids who were there) so I cant say no now ...
I dont mind those kids being there but I dont need the drama of my sister getting mad when she sees them ..
Kris - I think your idea may work! I'll just say I didnt know.

hey a little advice from someone whose already been married....i had around 350+ people at my wedding, and around 40 kids...some of them where my aunts kids, (NIGHTMARE) and small cousins....i had no idea they were even in teh room...when small kids find other small kids, they tend to be busy in the lobby ...or sit down n playing somehwere in a corner, i had face painting for kids, so they just lined up in a corner and were busy with that. In addition all the parents were very watchful of their children...I didnt want kids at my wedding intially but had to budge, and I dont even recall seeing them that day! lol

If she does get annoyed I would lie about knowing they were coming.
We didn't invite kids but decided that immediate family's children (nieces and nephews) would be allowed. We only had one person respond additional with a achild so we just let that one slide...

I was soooooo against having kids at the wedding, I have one nephew and DH(lol 1st time im using that term) he has 8 neices & nephew and omg I put up such a fight saying I didnt want them there blah blah blah-- its not that they are bad kids but when they are all together they get a little wild and crazy-- but it was becoming such a fight I just gave in and said fine have everyone there....
Well what i can tell u is ALL of the kids were excellent!!! I swear Im still in shock (and feel like a jerk for fighting over this) But it was like all of the kids knew this was an important event and were all on their best behavior. They were from ages 2-9yrs old!! I also think the parents were extra strict knowing the situation...
So my advice would be give them the benefit of the doubt they may end up surprising you....it realllly is not worth the fights and aggravation!!
