Who doesn't?

... you've never really fully evaluated the meaning of the name Hicksville.

I am so glad I'm from Uniondale...Cuz I would hate to get the look from non-NYers when I tell them where I'm from.

... you've never been to Times Square on New Year's Eve.

The view is better from my living room

... no, you don't want mustard on that burger!

I went to undergrad in DC and I would always forget to tell them no mustard on the burgers. It just isn't right.

... you can order a pizza pie and a soda and people will understand.

I have lived in Chicago for 5yrs and I still can't bring myself to call soda - pop. Once I asked FH what size pie should we order and he was like Ummm Pizza Hut doesn't sell pie. He thought I ment dessert.

... you've said stupid things like, 'Strong Island.'

Guilty

... you think if you're not from Long Island or NYC, you're not really from New York.

... you feel like you know Howard Stern.

Howard is my best friend.

... when you're away from Long Island, you love it and when you're there, you don't.

I love it from MD, but hated it when I was there.

... you're still waiting for a bridge to Connecticut.

Impatiently waiting because a good friend lives over there and I hate that I can see Conn, but it takes forever to drive there from LI.

... you've never really fully evaluated the meaning of the name Hicksville.

LOL, it never even occured to me!!!

... you know where the Commack Motor Inn is but you 'have never been there.'

I really have never been there.

... you've never been to Times Square on New Year's Eve.

Ewww, with all those tourists, NO WAY.

... you can order a pizza pie and a soda and people will understand.

Pizza in MD is awful :(

... you've never taken an MTA bus.

A what???

... you don't see the big deal about the Hamptons.

Eww, all those tourists, NO WAY.

... you think if you're not from Long Island or NYC, you're not really from New York.

This is so true.

... you don't go to Manhattan, you go to 'The City.'

People look at me like I am crazy now because I still call it THE City, but I don't live in NY anymore.

... you never realize you have an accent until you leave.

People have asked me if I am from NY before I ever opened my mouth down here.

... you curse. A lot.

Guilty.

... if your parents didn't, your grandparents lived in the city.

My grandparents.

... you never want to 'change at Jamaica.'

Its so scary there!

... you can correctly pronounce Hauppauge, Commack, Islip, ('I slip' not 'Is lip') Islandia ('I landia' not Is Landia') and Massapequa.

I used to work in Islandia and I HATED when people would call from out of state and say IS Landia.

... there are no real bagels or pizza anywhere else (except The City).

Very true.

This is so fun. Now I want to come to LI to visit

That is so funny!

When I first moved to NYC folks kept talking about 'Upstate New York' and it was White Plains.. I looked it up on mapquest and said 'That's not upstate, that's around the corner' and they looked at me like I was odd. Everytime someone said 'Upstate' i was thinking Albany or something like that.
