Young, In-love, and Broke

I am very new to all of this. My fiance lives across the country. We both have recently graduated from college and are trying to keep the costs down. I live out East on LI and think it would be nice to have a wedding out here, but need to find a nice place...but, not too expensive.(I love Atlantica, but def. looks too expensive!!) Most of his family had never been out here. I feel so pressured to put on a nice wedding, but don't know if I can afford it.
everything seems so expensive...and I can't seem to cut my list down below 200 guests.

PLEASE HELP!!

You will make it work. Many of us (myself included) is on a tight budget. You need to prioritize what is imporant to you. there are tons of places and since you have a higher number, more options to look at. We only need for about 100, so Stewart Manor Country Club was perfect for us, cozy, and can afford it.

ok, step back. take a deep breath. call around to a few places. feel out their prices.

don't feel pressured to put on a show. any wedding here is over the top according to standards set by the rest of the country.

as for price of the wedding, set a budget now. put away as much money as you need each month to reach that budget. then LIVE WITHIN IT. you can find discounts on almost anything. i did. you just have to shop around. and ask the brides on here where to go for discounts, and who is fabulous and cheap.

do one thing at a time. don't go crazy. and always look for discounts. you can do it!!

it will come together. I have my budget but I am still afraid we won't have enough saved come the day. When are you looking to get married??? you have time to shop for vendors. Just be patient, everyone wants to sell you something, just don't be afraid to say no and keep looking. Also, be creative, many thing you can make rather than buy, like bags, gifts, place cards, etc.

OK - I will echo everyone with budget. This will help more than you know. I know reception halls out East tend to be more $$$BUT if you get married during the day it will be less expensive than night.

Atlantica is awesome - they have weddings down to a science. $$$ but they are very reasonable during the off season and Saturday days.

East Hampton Point is great, I don't know how many weddings they have in the season though.

East Winds - more 'factory' but I know many brides who were married there and were very happy.

Also think out of the box maybe you could do a brunch type wedding than the food cost would be lower?

Keep smiling and asking questions....you will find a place

Sorry I disagree, East Wind is not a factory. I feel that I had A LOT of special requests and the accommodated everyone of them. My cousin who was in my BP was at my wedding on Saturday then the next day had a wedding in the same building and could not get over how different it was. JMO

I am going to have to disagree about East WInd too...It is in no sense a Factory...In fact, It is a beutiful place that really caters to the bride and groom who are getting married there..I ahve been to 2 different wedding there, and booked mine, and I did not get any sense of it feeling or looking like a Factory--the price was right, the people were generous and the place is absolutely gorgeous...no matter what building you use.

Hey, I thought I was the only one?

Anyways, don't worry. The girls here have excellent advice. I am also on a budget and gauranteed 220 guests. When you go to vendors, shop around a lot. Don't settle for the first couple of people you see, becuase you might end up spending more than what you bargained for. The time and of day you get married can be a huge factor with regards to price increase. But shop around...you'll get great ideas from here.
Congrats and welcome
