Is anyone inviting younger family members to their shower (ages 6-16)? I think its not appropriate but maybe I'm wrong... current debate in my family.

I didn't realize it was going to happen, but yes, DH's cousin's daughter (around 12) was there. She is very well-behaved and I didn't have an issue with it.

Re: younger girls at your shower??
the only young girl in my fam is my niece/FG who is 2 1/2 so I doubt my SIL will bring her. In FH's fam it is his cousin who is 9 and although I think she is a super sweet little girl, she isnt invited to the wedding so I dont see the point in having her at the shower.

Re: younger girls at your shower??
I'm wondering that as well. My fiance's niece is my junior bridesmaid, and I'm worried my friends might try to give me some raunchy stuff at my shower. So yeah, I'm thinking it would be too inappropriate for her.

Re: younger girls at your shower??
showers aren't typically raunchy....I mean, we had the 'panty' clothesline and a few lingerie gifts but otherwise it was very tame.
I had 50 women at my Bridal shower and 4 children- flower girls, ringbearer as well. The kids had a great time and there wasn't anything to make them uncomfortable. I had a belly dancer come in and the little girls were front and center dancing.
Totally appropriate, just a question of whether you want children there or not.

To me...they dont belong there...however, it seems to me that it is becoming quite common to include them.
IMO....if you are trying to keep your invite count down...I dont think it is necessary to invite them.

I can only think of one girl in my fam that falls in that age range and she will definitly be invited to the shower and wedding. I understand if u don't want kids at the wedding but I think the shower would be fine. I don't personally think its inappropriate

Two of my cousins were invited... one's 13ish and one's 16ish but I definitely wanted them there.

Re: younger girls at your shower??
No. My friend had all these annoying little children running around at her shower, I felt like I was at a day care.
I had FH's 2 little cousins - ages 9 and 15. The 9 year old is our FG and the 15 year old is doing a reading at our ceremony. Both had a good time and volunteered to help me with my gifts... The 15 year old sat next to me and helped me hold everything up for everyone to see and she helped me rip everything open (some stuff was very heavy) and the 9 year old handed every single item to me with pure joy on her face lol.

I am having a shower for talking, laughs and food and drinks, but will have a bachelorette night for raunchy fun with my girls

I will definitely hav a few at ym shower. My FG is the family decides to bring her. My younger cousin will be 15 by that time and she will most likely be there.

Re: younger girls at your shower??
I am inviting younger girls. I am sure they will be bored but I know my family will keep my shower clean because they know the girls are invited.
I am hoping it is a house shower anyway so that they will have rooms to go and play in and not be too bored.

Not sure what I will do, but I would think they would be bored- there really isnt anything for them to do.
