I recently got engaged and I am looking to choose a venue. We are thinking October 2011. I'm looking for a nice reception that decorates for the fall and something that isn't too expensive for the October month. Does anyone know a price quote and a place they have for October? Looking to have around 150 people. Thank you!

Congrats!!! What kind of RH are you looking for....on the water, has beautiful gardens, Nassau/Suffolk?! Do you have a budget? We need more info, there are so many RHs out there :)

I'm so new to this. Of course you need more information . Well, let's see, of course the cheaper the better, but no more than $100 for the RH. Suffolk or Nassau does not matter, both would do. I would love an outdoor cocktail hour if possible.

Try westbury manor. I'm getting married there oct 1, this yr and they decorate beautifully for fall with outdoor ceremony and ch options. Prices vary depending on the day of the week. Day vs night. The rooms. Etc.. but its worth talking to them

I should work for westbury manor, I would suggest them. They have a beautiful cocktail area outside and it has fireplaces. It is not a modern looking place if you want that, it's more vintage!!! They decorate beautifully for the different seasons though. My friend got married at majestic gardens and that was beautiful and affordable, Woodbury country club has a nice outside place.

Just a word of advice...depending on when in October you are looking at...if you are looking to save...moving to the beginning of Nov is a lot cheaper. We were deciding between Oct 24th or Nov 6th...and for the difference of two weeks we decided to go with a Saturday night at Sunday afternoon prices...just a thought

Re: Your advice is needed :-)
first of all - congrats on your engagement!!! this is very exciting !! the search for an RH is prob the most stressful part of the wedding planning process...although I think you need to narrow down your search criteria for us a little more..There are easily 20-30 catering halls on LI. Just in Nassau, the ones that come to mind:
Westbury Manor Jericho Terrace Swan Club Sans Souci Leonards of Great Neck Crest Hollow Country Club Riviera of Massapequa Coral House Verdis of Westbury Royalton North Ritz Club Chateaubriand
Suffolk has a ton as well
Flowerfield Old Field Club Windows on the Lake Chateau La Mer
the list goes on and on....

Re: Your advice is needed :-)
There is a thread on 2011 board with a lot of RH pricing. That might help you. I know I have found it very helpful when I started out looking for a place.

I'd also suggest Westbury Manor if you are looking for that kind of old-fashioned, vintage feel. Such a gorgeous place!!

Re: Your advice is needed :-)
Here are tons of quotes with minimum guarantees girls got from various places for 2011
Crest Hollow Country Club is $69pp for a Sunday night in early November. We chose to do the Friday night and added a viennese and a hospitality hour, so our price with tax and grat is about $112pp.
I know that prices are cheapest Sunday day. Saturday day is usually good too. I agree with someone who said before that you should seriously consider early November. Only problem is you run the risk of now being able to have an outdoor CH. If that's really important to you, then I say go with October, but it will be a substantial price difference.
Also, Swan Club gave us quotes for early November at $60pp for a Friday, so their Sunday might be cheaper than that. That price didn't include viennese or hospitality.
I know that Chateau Briand and Leonards have prices around that range too but I'm not sure if they do outdoor CHs.

Smithtown Landing Timber Point Watermill Swan Club East Wind Country Gardens
These are definitely under the $100pp range depending on the date and guarantee.
