Your Bridal Registry Experience

Your Bridal Registry Experience

Hi Ladies,

I am currently registered at Fortunoff's and am torn as to if I should register at another place or not. Obviously it is easier for me to deal with just one registry, but I know that is a bit selfish of me...lol

So last night I stopped by Macy's and BBB to check out their fine china departments to get a feel for what each place carries and I realized that they pretty much all carry the same stuff.

This is where I would like some feedback. Between Macy's and BBB, which would you choose and why? Does one place have more perks than the other? Is one place more lenient with returns than the other?

Thank you very much for your time!

ETA:

Thank you to all the ladies who have voted and posted.

Clearly the favorite amongst LIW ladies is BBB!

We registered at both BBB and Macy's

I think you should register at another store b/c alot of people don't shop at fortune off's and I know when my friend got married she got almost nothing from her fortune off's registry.

Here are somethings to consider:

If you have a Macy's Card anytime someone buys you a present off your registry it gives you points which you can eventually use to buy stuff

BBB will give you cash back on gifts you return as long as they were on your registry. BBB will keep your registry open for up to 5 yrs

I know this doesn't directly answer your question but I hope it was some help

DEFINITELY BB&B. I'm actually registered at both, and Macy's has been AWFUL. A lot of their items are listed as 'ships in 33 weeks' or 'ships in 25 weeks.' What guest wants to buy a gift and have it arrive 5-7 months later? Also, the sales people in Herald sqaure are very rude and don't give a sh!t about helping out customers.

BBB on the other hand has been great. Their prices (esp. on china) are infinitely better than Macys - and for the same exact brands and china patterns. It's also nice to be able to go into all of their stores and have (generally) knowledgeable sales people who are willing to help. Plus their return policy is awesome. If you return an item that has been purchased off of your registry, you get cash back.

BB&B is the best because they give you cash back for anything your return off your registry and full price store credit for anything else (even w/ out a receipt) For example we got a coffee pot we didn't register for w/ no receipt and I tried to bring it Macy's but they were going to give me $9.99 so i brought it to BB&B and they have me $50 store credit that I was able to use toward the things we didn't get...

The plus for macy's though is that if you have a Macy's Credit card and register it w/ them, you get I think 5% of all registry purchases and 10% of all Credit card purchases (or maybe the opposite) and then they send you a gift card for that amount at the end...

We did BB&B and Macy's Both have perks, but BB&B will be better/affordable for guests as they mail out 20% coupons each week.

i registered first at the BBB at the source mall in westbury...their fine china/wedding registry department is FANTASTIC.

we also have a registry at macy's. and to be honest--i wasn't impressed. we have like 10-15 items on our macy's registry versus the 200 items on our bbb.

We registered at both Macy's and BBB! I think BBB had the some of the same stuff as Macy's but I think they were a little bit cheaper. Looking out for my guests.

Thanks for your response. The main reason we are registered at Fortunoff's is because FMIL works there and gets a decent employee discount, so I am sure most of his side of the family will get stuff from there. Also FMIL tells me that they will match prices that other stores have (although that is annoying to have to go through for a guest).

I don't think Macy's mentioned that to me last night but I will verify it.

The girl at BBB said that it would be open for 2 yrs not 5.

Thanks again!

I only did one registry as well.....I didn't want to coordinate multiple registries. I went with Macy's cause its convenient for me. So far so good. They have been very helpful. I registred at the one in Manhassett.

Does your family typically buy off the registry for wedding gifts or just bridal showers?

Just bridal showers.....we usually do cash gifts for weddings.

Stick to just one then. For some of your guests it'll be a little hard to get to....but you can't please everyone.

Re: Your Bridal Registry Experience

I'd go for one high end store and one 'normal' store. If you do Fortunoff AND Macy's than you're doing both high end stores, IMO. I have heard brides that have also had problems with their Macy's registries. We had 2 registries and one was with BBB and we loved it!! Those 20% coupons also helped out too!!!

BB&B - I have not heard good things about Macy's...

Thank you for your opinions so far, but keep them coming.

What do you think about Crate & Barrel?

Re: Your Bridal Registry Experience

I registered at BB&B for our everyday stuff, I think it's really good for that plus they send out 20% coupons all the time so that's great for your guests.

Macy's is a high end store like Fortunoff's, so I think you'd be limiting your guest's options and making it difficult for those who can't afford to spend a lot.

I don't know anything about C&B, sorry!

Re: Your Bridal Registry Experience

Originally, I was just registered at Fortunoff and Crate and Barrel but, I've recently added BBB (I liked some of their bedding better).

If you are adding the second registry for guest convenience, I'd do the BBB as opposed to the Crate and Barrel, since there's only one on Long Island, not far from Fortunoff. Also, C&B has great stuff but, I've had a lot of items get discontinued, they usually come out with something similar though in return.

Re: Your Bridal Registry Experience

I haven't registered yet, but I will be registering at BBB & Fortunoff's (hopefully by November).....but as for my experience with Macy's- they s*ck!!! My sister registered there and when I went to check what she registered for, the sales clerk got annoyed that I asked her to show me more than 1 thing and said 'well what's your price range', and I said that's irrelevant, it's my sister and if I want to spend $500 I will.....I couldn't believe how rude some of the people are that work there!!

I did BB & B, Macy's and Home Depot. EVERYTHING I got was off the BB & B registry except 1 thing. After all was said and done, we evaluated what we recieved vs. what we really NEEDED and returned a few of the small things from BB & B for cash and was able to buy one BIG thing we really needed.
