Any first time brides who are marrying someone who's divorced?? Just wondering how to react to his side of the family being so 'nonchalant' about the whole affair. Anyone else in the same boat????

Absolutely!!!! Same situation here and his family hated his exwife and they still are acting non chalant, except two of his nieces, they are very excited for us.

WELL ITS MY SECOND WEDDING AND HIS FIRST IM 10 YEARS OLDER 2 CHILDREN AND I HAVE TO SAY MY FUTURE IN LAWS ARE VERY EXCITED.

Yea that's what i'm saying, for him HIS INLAWS ((My family)) are very excited. His seem to be acting like it's no big deal.
All I ever hear is how he got into his first marriage so young and what a horrible experience he had and how now he is truly alive with me and how much they adore me. You'd think they'd be just a little more excited....?? Whatever, i'm just sayin.....

Your family is probably more interested because it's your first wedding. Having already gone through a previous wedding, I suspect your in-laws are focusing more on the quality of the marriage afterward.

i'm going through this as well.. fh tells me how excited his parents are but i don't believe it.. they dont seem itnerested nor do they seem willing to do anything to help us out. and i do mean NOTHING.. matter of fact, i called my fmil yesterday just to say hi and see how things are going.. and i haven't gotten a return phone cal YET!

ok, i'm the opposite!! it's my second his first!! my parents are very happy for us, but financially can't really do much, which i and he completely understands! my parents allocated a certain $ amount for me and my sisters and mine was spent on my first marriage and much more helping me w/ the divorce and w/ me and my daughter! my sisters are weird though, b/c they did eevrything for me already, they are like why shoul we again?? they are the reason we are not having a bridal party, just my daughter and his~flower girls! his family is weird, not very close, his friends and my friends are more excited than family!!

OMG, I think we are marrying the same guy! That's what they tell me....they said he was soo miserable before he met me and now he's so happy and loves life...So that being the case, maybe you be a little more excited. My family is super excited for us, especially since I'm 41 and have never been married so they are all like 'FINALLY'
