I am so upset and I have been holding it inside since my ordeal started. I know we cannot name names on this site but if you do a search or fm me I will tell you who I am taking about that way you can avoid what I went through.
As most of you know I am planning this wedding from California. I flew home in the beginning of July with a fierce appt schedule to find a place for our reception and ceremony. All the places I made an appt with to visit told me that they catered to small weddings which is what I am having. I deliberately called each and everyplace to see if they would/could accommodate a party my size (60-75). I checked out more than a few places when I was home but I was waiting for my one appointment with this hall on Lake Ronkonkoma b/c I had really like the grounds and I had already spoken to them on the phone asking them that do they do small weddings of 60 people. So I met with the so called “manager” who says he’s been there for 35 years and we go over the details of the wedding. I reiterate to him how many people and that there might be more b/c I am not sure who will travel from CA to NY. He told me no problem “the minimum is 60 and if I had more than that they need a final head count 14 days before the wedding”.

I am sorry for your issues! I just fmed you because from the moment you started tellng the story I knew who you were talking about My FH and I went to WOTL and heard word for word the same sales pitch. I didnt even read the responses until after I fmed you and saw that I was right! The place is supposed to throw a good party, I know a few people who have been married there and had nothing but good things to say, so if you are getting married there, I am sure you will be fine! To life is good! GOOD LUCK. Think of it this way, it can only get better from here

WOW. My sis used to work for them and I never heard anything like that before. Looks like you need our help finding a new hall. What are you looking for? Where? When? How many people? I think I FM'ed you before about Sunset Harbor. I met with a photo yesterday, he gave me the latest copy of a mag with all the halls and prices, min guest. If you FM me your address, I'll mail it to you, or have your mom pick one up for you. Its a great tool to find a hall.

I don't want to scare any gals who are having their wedding there but I do want future brides to know about it.
I felt had we legally held them to the contract they would have made our day miserable and it was not worth me taking the chance. Can you imagine my whole day wondering what they might pull b/c they didn't want me there.
I think the hardest part about all this was their unwillingness to accomadate me for THEIR so called mistake. Someone said it in a post above about booking a bigger party. In my heart I think that is true why else would you put someone through this knowing they are going to tell everyone.
Nora--yes I have been talking to sunset harbour and they are delightful what a differance. I am thinking I am will go with them. I would love if you could send me that sheet that would

I am so sorry this happened! Although I'm not surprised. Something messed up happened to us there as well.
My FI and I called around before we started looking at halls because we had a budget and didn't want to waste our time driving all over the place to find out that they were too expensive. WELL, I called the place your talking about. They quoted me a price for a Saturday night wedding in October, and when I got there it was a whole different story!
The guy that I spoke to wasn't there (of course) and the woman I talked to said ' Oh no, he couldn't have told you that price.' Sure lady, like I made it up and wanted to waste my time coming here. She quoted me a price that was $30 more pp. I told her where she could go.
This kind of thing frustrates me and unfortunately it happens all the time~
Good luck in choosing a new place. I am certain other halls are run more professional than that.

I'm so sorry you went through that. I don't know where people get the nerve! I hope the rest of your planning goes without a hitch. You deserve it for having to deal with all of that!!

You are better off not having your wedding there. YOu should call the local news when you are here. Is it 7 on yourside? Don't remember the name. They probably had a larger party requesting your date.

Wow - I'm really sorry that you had to go through all of that! How awful!!
On the bright side, I'm glad that you are having your money refunded and that you may already have found another (much much better) hall! Best of luck to you! Everything will work out, and you will have a wonderful wedding!!!

Sorry you're dealing with this.
I looked at both places, and I told DH I thought the guy reminded me too much of a car salesman or a card shark in Vegas or something. LOL. We booked with someone else.

have you checked out Milleridge Carraige house..... they are 75 person minimum, maybe they can work with you...

I am so sorry to hear. A co-worker got married there this past June. I will see him on Tuesday and see what problems if he had any, with them. You have a good suit. it is a signed contract.

So sorry you had such a horrible experience My IL's just had a vow renewal at the Watermill in one of their smaller rooms and it was really wonderful. You should check them out too.

OMG!!!! That really stinks! I am getting married at Windows on the lake and so far my experinces with them have been wonderful. I hope everything works ot well for you.
