YOUR wedding

YOUR wedding

I realized something yesterday when I was speaking to someone about trying to get a headpiece made to match my dress. She said "You don't have to match your headpiece (true). No one will notice." There in then I realized...All we do for this special day should be what our own hearts desire. I know that in alot of families there is a certain amount of appeasing that must go on..but in your heart if you want something (that is not inconsiderate of other people involved in your big day), then go for it. Have whatever song, cake topper, shoes, headpiece, favors that YOU want. As I get closer, I am understanding that planning a wedding can be doubly frustrating because of the glut of information and choices out there and because a wedding is something that so many people plan in their lifetimes, many who went before you can have a tendency to give their advice or opinions ad nauseum (It's just the unsolicited and strongly subjective comments that I dislike). I'm sorry I am babbling here, it is not out of anger or frustration but just a freeing thought that occurred to me that I wanted to share. Good luck to all.

Good luck.

YOUR wedding

I know just what you both mean. All of this planning is a lot of stress. I myself wanted a small wedding with just my immediate family and close friends, but, instead, I'm trying to plan a wedding with almost 200 guests. One thing I am doing that goes against what both our families want is getting married not at a Church but at the reception hall (which has a really pretty outdoor area for the ceremony!) and it's stressful anyway because now I am supposed to find a Catholic priest who will go to the reception hall and marry us (which won't be easy to find, esp since neither or us are Church-goers)so my family / future family won't be too upset. A lot of wedding planning is about pleasing other people and sometimes it goes against how you feel about certain topics. But, I agree, you shouldn't let other people tell you what to do and totally control the way your wedding day turns out. It's a day for you and your future husband and a day you will forever remember. It's really hard sometimes, but hopefully venting does make you feel a little better (it makes me feel a little better!)

That info was very helpful. I feel much better knowing the wedding was downstairs on the other side of DM. We have the "Garden Room" upstairs which of on one end of DM and I was afraid you were in the room beneath it. As far as the staff is concerned not one person will be left out on any course of the meals. I will make sure of that!! If the BQ manager wants a hefty tip he will see that all my guest are well taken care of. I think that's what we all need to do is talk to the BQ manager and express that they need to take special care of our guest (especially older and pregnant guests)and if this warrants a problem see how it can be fixed.

Thanks again for the info!! Happy Planning
