UPDATED W/ PROFESSIONAL PICS!!!! 10/6/07 - Flowerfields, Skyline, Lovin Oven Floral Designs, Thomas Paul, Priscilla of Boston, Natural Style Cosmetics, and much more!

Finally with some pictures! I'll keep adding pics as I sort through the proofs.

Thomas Paul Photography - A+
I haven't gotten the photos back yet, but judging from our engagement photos and the shots he showed us on his camera screen that night, I'm pretty sure they're going to be awesome. Tom was by far and away one of the best people we worked with that night. He made us feel totally comfortable, he was completely professional - I felt like I was working with a PERSON, not with some photo-taking robot, so it made taking the pictures with him a lot more enjoyable than they could have been. I was also really impressed with how quickly and smoothly he handled taking formal pictures of our gigantic 30+ person extended family. He was also really great about communicating with me before the wedding - stayed on the phone with me for half an hour once, trying to iron out the photo taking schedule for the day, always called me back asap, etc. Highly recommended.

Wild Rose Video - A
Again, haven't seen the final product yet, so this grade is just for now until I do... but the gentlemen were there on time, waiting for us when we arrived at Flowerfields, they were very nice, very professional, really on top of things. The only complaint I have is that there was a moment when my dad was dancing with my grandmother, and my dad's cousin asked the videographer to stop video taping the cappuccino machine (why do I want a video of that anyway? That's the first thing getting cut from the final tape...) and tape their dance instead, and he kind of gave her an argument for about a second - but then he did go and tape the dance, so all was fine, and it wasn't a big deal. Just make sure that your vendors have an awareness of what's REALLY important to you on your wedding day - and that it's NOT the coffee!

Flowerfields - A
This place was really just my dream location. I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful. The food was wonderful, they were really on top of things, everything was taken care of - I never felt like I had to run off and fix anything or deal with any mistakes or anything like that. I couldn't have asked for better. Also, I highly recommend Danielle as your bridal attendant - she was wonderful all night.
The only complaints I have are pretty minor - I found the maitre-d, Andy, to be a bit... abrasive. Not rude, persay... it's hard to explain. He was very professional and business-like, and really knew his stuff... but I guess there were points where I just wanted to say 'look, I know this is your JOB, but could you stop treating my wedding like a business meeting?' However, he did make sure things ran smoothly, and overall did a really good job.
Also, one last thing - When we pulled up, we were supposed to go up to their bridal cottage because the main hall wasn't ready yet. When we got their, the road to the cottage was blocked off and we couldn't get there, so we had to ask them to clear it. However, we wree running late and needed the photographer to come up asap so we could take our family photos... but they sent him around to another parking field and made him walk over, which meant we were standing around waiting for him. I understand that vendors have separate parking, but we really needed him then and there... our whole night ended up being off schedule, and that didn't help.

Lovin Oven Floral Designs - B+
Overall, Lovin Oven did a wonderful job - our flowers were absolutely gorgeous, and I could never find any other florist with the amazing ideas and creativity that Keyth has. I really owe how beautiful everything was to him.
However, this was the one vendor we had a problem with - a minor problem, but a problem nonetheless. We were supposed to have our flowers delivered to the house at 3pm for pictures. The delivery woman called about 3 saying she was lost and asking for directions. She was literally RIGHT on our road - so my mom told her to turn left out of the parking lot she was sitting in, and just go down the road a bit and we'd be there. A little while later, she still hadn't shown up, so my dad called the florist for her cell... somehow she had ended up somewhere totally random! I mean, how do you screw directions like that up? And why wouldn't you call when you didn't find it within 5 minutes like you were told you would? My dad literally wasted half an hour of my wedding day sitting and attempting to direct this idiotic woman to our house - and even WITH HIM ON THE PHONE she'd be making wrong turns! It was utterly ridiculous, and the late delivery ended up putting us way behind schedule, which meant we spent the whole day rushing to catch up, and by the time I finally got to the ceremony I was just exhausted and stressed out.
Also, we were supposed to have all the personal flowers but the grandparents' flowers delivered to the house - only the flowers for the bride's side showed up and the rest were sent to Flowerfields, which was really annoying as we wanted them all for pictures. They said that's what was in our contract, but all the contract says is 'bridal delivery,' which could really mean either 'bride's side' or 'bridal party' which is what we had meant (and said). Also, on the contract, there was an FF next to the grandparents' flowers (which I assume to mean Flowerfields), but not any other flowers... I'm sure it was an honest mistake, and we were all much more irritated by the delivery woman (which isn't really Keyth's fault, other than that he hired her) - if the delivery problem hadn't happened, we probably wouldn't haver really been worried about the confusion on where to deliver certain flowers. Either way, it was fine in the end, but the whole delivery was just an annoying mess - too bad, because I had LOVED working with Keyth, and I still think that he really did a beautiful job.

Skyline Orchestra - A+
Skyline was really just fantastic. It's a company with several bands, but we used the headlining band (Skyline). They were just flat out amazing - I can't even count how many compliments we got on them. They also provided musicians for our ceremony and cocktail hour, which were fantastic. The bandleader, Mike, was really wonderful about talking to me on the phone, working with me to choose songs - they even learned 3 songs for me from scratch, which I really appreciated - all of which came out beautifully. I can't wait to get my video back so I can actually HEAR the first dance song and not be distracted through it!

Marianne, Natural Style Cosmetics - A+
Marianne is a lesser-known vendor, I suppose, but she's fantastic. She's very friendly, extremely professional, and really knows what she's doing - she did makeup for TV for years, and now has her own studio within the NV Hair Salon on Jericho Turnpike. I really recommend her for anyone who doesn't mind going out to have their makeup done, rather than having someone come to them.

Gizay Michaels Hair Salon - A+
I've been going to Gizay Michaels for years, and I couldn't be happier with how our hair came out. I loved every single style. Jane did my hair, as well as my sister's and mother's hair... I can't remember who did my maid of honor and honorary bridesmaid, but both came out beautifully. It's difficult to work with crazy-curly hair like my sister's and maid of honor's, but both women did an excellent job of it.

Priscilla of Boston - B
I loved my dress - I really loved how it was so easy to wear, and a little bit different. It's also not their fault that by the end of the night I had awful welts along where the bodice was hitting my skin - my dress was a wee bit too tight because I'd needed to lose about 5 more lbs. However, I had a few annoyances with them. First, we placed bm dress orders in about December, and called in about February or so... and the dresses hadn't even been ordered yet! Second, when I went in to be measured for my dress, I was supposed to be measured to the proper length b/c of the bottom of the skirt - it couldn't be hemmed. When it came in, it was WAY too long! I had to have it shortened, and it was STILL too long, because NOBODY would listen to me when I said I wanted it a bit shorter! They tried to charge me $200 to shorten the skirt - yeah right! Thankfully, once my mother pointed out that the length was THEIR mistake, they waived the fee - definitely one good part. In general though, their seamstress was a mess. I couldn't stand her, just personality-wise, and when she shortened the skirt, she sewed it so that the lace from the skirt ended up sewed along the inside of the skirt, rubbing against my stomach - I had to dig up a slip to wear under it last minute because I couldn't stop itching my stomach where the lace was!
In general, their gowns are gorgeous, and most of the women there were lovely (I highly recommend Chrissy/Christine (I can't remember which it was) - she was fantastic). Just consider taking your alterations elsewhere, if you can.

I loved everything - I want to be as honest as possible so that others can avoid any minor annoyances that could possibly be prevented. So, I'm giving you the nitty gritty details! I swear I'm not just being whiny!
